Word cloud

While browsing (should be sewing) I found this site through Goodkarma, pretty neat! But copy your picture once you see it. I went on further and although it says you are not ordering a t-shirt...I am not sure (although I didn't give a size so probably not, but just beware...unless you do want a shirt). I think it is neat...I also think I like the word like

I also found another KAL...a sewing one...I am like so tempted.. but can't do it..I really don't want to make a skirt, which is the first project. Oh well...one can only do so many KAL's ;) nite again!

Socks...love them...OR...

Well I don't hate them..yet anyways. Finally it is done...and will probably have a partial frog...why...see below...another why...can you say AR...

Side View

Flat out of foot view

What the HECK is wrong with this picture!!!

I don't have toes like that LOL!!!!!!

Hilarious to say the least...I had some toe decrease problems..ya think! and I really didn't want to frog at this point, I figured I could wing it and kept decreasing. That went ok, but when kirtchner stitching it...well..how did that happen?? I had the correct amount of 10 stitches. Earlier in the heel flap joining process, 1 SM fell out, and I put it where it looked like it went..well not sure if that made some of the problems or not.

But you know what...so what...I am going to cast on the other one tonite and now that I have a clue, I can do this one so much easier and then I will decided to frog the entire or part of the first one. I mean it could be a future design feature...who knows. I like the striping progression, and it is my colors I love (hint, hint SP! :) but the yarn leaves more to be desired. Feel kind of scratchy...it is Lion Brand Magic stripes, maybe after washing it is better.

My Knitty(tm) SP has claimed me and already he/she has a wonderful sense of humor and is making me laugh many times today already! So off I go to sew and start that new sock...oh and Heather as soon as my sized 2 40" addis arrive, your yarn is next. Can't wait! I am also trying to finish up some smaller WIP's before the 10th!(what starts on the 10th...the Knitting Olympics!!) I have decided to make the Hobo Chic Bag!

Can't wait!

C is for

Cinnamon...in this case as in cinnamon/pecan coffee cake yummmy!! It is one of my favorite spices/scents. I usually only use it in baking but have heard of it used in regular meal recipes...hmmm...I already love it in gum/tea/candles.
This concludes your weekly Knittytm ABC Along.

On the knitting front...I am sooooo close to finishing my first sock. It will be done tomorrow! I promise pics then! Then I must cast on before I get the mystical SSS...(shh...second sock syndrome...) I mean I can see why too! I need to learn 2 circs/2 socks at a time method...definately on my to do list.

Only 11 more days until the Knitting Olympics...still a toss up between which bag is going to be made...any ideas/help you can give me? Fuzzy feet'll have to wait...I wanna chocolate bag!

I am off to sew and knit before I fall asleep! :0

5 am EST :) Saturday

And I haven't been to bed since 1 am EST Friday....why you ask...spent 4 hrs with FIL in ER, just as I was going to bed, MIL called and he was having some minor complications with his surgery from yesterday...so I met the ambulance there and commenced to be in the waiting room...where I pulled out my trusty sock (only got a few rows before the eyelids started to close though! He's doing much better, just brought him home and I was starved, went to the McDonald's 24 hr drive through, nourished myself, and now just waiting for food to settle before I hit the bed. :)

Sock progress!!! Weee... It is going so much easier than I thought, I understand a lot more now, at least on a basic sock. The heel flap was done on dpns and is too tight I think, I won't try that again, I'll stick to magic loop until I learn 2 circ method the on to 2 socks w/2circs we'll find out soon. But, I'm not too picky, it is my first sock you know...that is why I saved the good yarn for later :)

Only 1 more day to find out who my Knittyboardtm SP 6 will be!!!

On the KO news...I made it on
Yarn Harlot's participant list...so now all I gotta do is finish and get my gold :) I am on Team Knittyboardtm and my sport is tote bag knitting and felting..hehe

Thursday, January 26, 2006

See edited post below :)

For pics of yarn to be used for Knitting Olympics....Basically, whatever project I pick will have the chocolate yarn used except for the fuzzy feet or booga bag.

I am hemming and hawing between the bags....like I said all 3 have things I have never done before and I am positive I can finish them in time.... Sooo will keep thinking, I mean I got until the flame gets lit right ;)

SOCK UPDATE: heel is turned, gusset #1 about to be tackled...and I still have the correct # of stitches (about time huh!)

Off to socky land I go!!! nite

Tagged again :)

Ok, courtesy of Sandra I've been tagged for 5 unusual things about me...here goes my try..

1. MY NAME!!! Like how many Zonda's do you know??? I just wanted to be a Suzy, Lisa, Kathy...anything...but guess what I was supposed to be Rhonda, but we had a cousin w/same name...so Mom made it up...hmmm... if you're bored, google my name...interesting things..

2. I hate with a passion, cracking knuckles...I don't personally do it, my son does (cause he knows it bugs me) it gives me the creeps...heeby geebies...almost makes me nauseous...why I don't know. I work in xray, and if I had to be around to take the xray before and after the bones were set...well...you know where I was....far away and hands over my ears!

3. Can't stand to trim, work on my cuticles...hands or toes...literally creeps me out...makes me jittery??? I can get pedi's and mani's no problem, someone else is touching them...(well not now as that would take away yarn money.. hehe) Now I trim and paint my toenails, no problem, but work on the cuticles...my stomach is churning just thinking of it...Why???

4. After 3 rear-end accidents (no bad injuries, whew), and a box of xray film hitting the side of my head...I can't stand anything around my neck. Scarves are ok, especially when needed. No more necklaces for me...I can barely tolerate my badge for work. If I hang the camera, it lasts maybe 15 minutes....why???

5. I love cold baked beans sandwiches with mayo. Don't eat them as much because DD always finishes up the beans. Why...grew up eating them mainly on Sundays, cause every Saturday nite was baked beans and hot dog night. My mom made the best homemade baked beans. I even have one of her bean pots...can I make them...no way..why..don't know.

Well, probably more than you wanted to know about me! As for tagging...how about this...anyone who wants to...you are tagged and it :)

Yarrn PrOn & KO

My first Yarrn PrOn pic...my first koigu in nice chocolately, blue, and pinkish shades...I call it milky way (why??? don't know)....so much sock yarn..so little time..

On another note...I just had to join another KAL...Knitting Olympics hosted by Yarn Harlot Stephanie...I'll be on Team Knittyboard....but only one thing...I have to decide what to do, feel free to give advice....all have techniques I've never used, and I am a slow knitter so it will be a challenge to finish...I have to admit, it'll probably be a bag as it would be done in chocolate so it can count as a Knit Chocolate and a tote along...so I would get 3 KAL's done for one project! See ideas below!

French Market bag Done in either red or brown or pink yarn
Fuzzy feet not sure on what color.
Possibly this for either of the above 2 patterns

Hobo Chic Bag in shades of chocolate like these

Booga bag done in Noro Kureyon in 116, greys, blacks, fushia...

Almost forgot the Letter Have it Bag from SnB Nation in these colors

hmmm...I have almost 99% made up my mind....what do you think???

It is......

Finished, I have finally finished the Red Scarf
I took the best pics I could...given the time and no daylight. I really want to get this in the mail tomorrow. I am sooo glad it is done. What have I learned...do a simpler pattern (not that this was hard, just had to keep row count, etc.) and DO NOT DOUBLE YARN....my wrists....I hope someone is kept warm and enjoys this....it is hard to send off...cause...well...you know I LOVE RED!!
Used LB Woolease in Red 2 1/2 skeins, size 10.5, hmmm used bamboo circs, straights...and my Denises (big mistake there)..I have needle ADD I guess hehe. Some projects get dual needle use (if I have them)can you believe I have no size 3's except for dpns that are being used for Sock 1. I do have a #3 40" addi I will attempt with ML.

Ok, now some yarn porn...My friend Heather has just started spinning and dyeing roving and sock yarn. I was at the right place, right time and this is her first sock yarn called Cupid...I love it!!! I just wished the sock fairies would knit for me when I am asleep...the pairs I would have LOL! Visit her Etsy Store, she has roving and will have sock yarn very soon...No I am not a paid advertiser haha! Just a satisfied customer..who needs to maybe cast on a cuff or so for her to see her colorway in action...hmmm how many sock WIP's can I create...

Ok..see my ipod mini...it is a nice ipod...doesn't ask for much...only to have it's space invaded with songs and podcasts...only wants to be charged once in a while...

See my nice pouch I made with cotton-ease...velcro even to keep it safe and warm...well I guess I need to not forget my true black leather w/armband case when I go to the gym...poor, poor ipod...while I was walking on treadmill at a fast pace...moving my arms it was safe on the magazine rack part (so I thought) (shouldha been on my arm!) and my flailing arm hits the earplug cord, whips it out of the magazine holder and cute little pouch and onto the tread...YIKES...and gets flung off the back...I jump off, pick it up and plug back in...praying all the while it still works (no service contract)Gentleman 1 treadmill down.."are you ok?" Yep..I replied red-faced.....phew..tis ok...proceed to brisk, fast, walking pace, ipod safe in cupholder this time...flailing arms AGAIN hit earplug cord, flinging ipod down on treadmill, then jumps off to the side under another treadmill (luckily not used at this time)..look around..did anyone see it happen AGAIN! ..so now I hold it in my hand...tightly and wait for my son to come back upstairs from weightlifting to use my treadmill...waiting...waiting...holding tightly onto ipod...rocking/walking to Robert Plante, Black Eyed Peas, etc...holding tightly to peanut sized bladder so that son could have the only available treadmill...he's a no show after 40 mins..and I have to go....so I went....

Sandra tagged me today...still working on the answers...until tomorrow...same bat time...same bat channel :)

Time....I need more...time

Hehe! Don't we all! Just a short note, as I gotta go iron, sew, and knit the Red Scarf....I wanna finish it tonite...will she...won't she...hmmm It is going well, it should be about 50" or so if I don't run out of yarn. I even tried to surf the net and knit..but not too great.

My goals for this year besides all the projects I want to make is to try to knit a charity item in between a project. I think it is a good way to break things up too. Don't want to get bored now :) I plan to donate to different charities and have a whole bag of yarn specifically for that. It'll help w/stash depleting and help someone out at the same time. A good way to use those yarns that looked good online but in person...yuk! But they will keep someone warm.

Warm...it's been like summer around here..now it is cold and I can finally wear my panta...I wore it friday and forgot to wash it first...itch city. So I christened my bottle of eucalean wool wash, and it is STILL drying. I need it tomorrow LOL!

Well I am off, and maybe later tonite there will be pics...I got more sock yarn in this weekend :))) I've...got...to...finish...RS....socks...I need to get them done for the sock-a-month-along before the end of Feb. and at the rate I am going...YIKES!

Chocolate and other goodies :)

Hi! Well I guess I am in a KAL fever. Just joined Knit Chocolate . This KAL started in Nov. but I guess I didn't notice until yesterday. What is more interesting is I got Patons Classic Merino in chocolate for Twist last week, have brown wool for 1 tote and a letter have it bag from SNB Nation....I guess I like all shades of brown...and lots of chocolate :) My first official swatch. First measurement at slightly damp was off by 2 rows and 1 stitch(should be 24 rows/19 stitches) which is exactly what I knit.sooo close, and maybe cigar, cause if it's wool, it could grow a bit, then maybe I can knit the next size down...I mean that close...hmmm can you tell I am a gauge newbie!!!

On the wrist front. I think it was not only my doubled yarn...thanks Lolly but my Denises. Once I switched back to bamboo, it is going just fine!!

On the sewing front...working on some totes and needle rolls and below is what DD made for her Girl Scout Sewing badge. She has 2 more pairs cut out, and hopefully will get them done this weekend (they've only been cut out since before the holidays. She's not sure if she really likes to sew...Most of it was done using the serger, which she loved putting the pedal to the floor...yikes what do I have to look forward to in 4 years.

Just completed a swap and I have to tell you I love the Berroco cotton twist.

Those are so my colors...well other than chocolate brown and red, blue, green....;) I guess I have many colors! Right now I am looking for a couple more skeins of the same color or contrasting color to make maybe a tank of some sort for the summer. Also included was 2 yds each of these fabrics...yes I swapped yarn for fabric. Especially the red/pink swirls...it is so discontinued around here, I have the red and now the red/pink...now if I found the green swirls I would be in heaven :) The other fabric will probably become a tote or part of a quilt.

EDITED TO ADD: I found some on Common Threads I got enough to make the Chickami or Soliel... :) I know the dye lots won't match, so there'll be a little camoflague to be done but I am SOOO Happy! Oh and some Brown sheep bulky got in my basket too...how??? ;)

Well I am off to bed! Later :)

UGHHH!!

Well I have a stiff wrist, due to the red scarf.(can't figure out if it is the needles(Denise's) or the doubled yarn; needle change due tonite)..still working on it, but I gotta sew more than knit right now. Not like I could sit still or anything?HUH!

The hell flap!! oops! I mean heal flap!!! Like duh...heel flap ;)well, thought I had 28 stitches...got 3 rows done..???where did they go??? At this time I switched from addis/magic loop to DPN's due to slipping stitches. I guess I am going to invent 2 more stitches and go on from there...you know I gotta fall in love with sock making....I mean..the stash...and I have like 6 more skeins coming....good thing I don't "expect" my first sock to be perfect.

So poor other UFO's/WIP's are being ignored tonite....pics of sewing progress tomorrow!

B is for Belle

Belle is our Bloodhound, you see her here doing her favorite thing, sleeping and hanging out w/her cat rag toy.

So I changed the template

Well after about 1 1/2 hrs, I finally got a template I can work with and you all can see the sidebar clearer. The only thing I can't do right now is my button. Gotta resize that sucker! Well off to do my SP6 Questionnaire and knit for a bit! :)

Pics...they want pics

My blogger friends have been wanting to see pics (yeah Sandra here they are! :)))

Clapotis in Noro Silk Garden #87. On 1st repeat of section 2. Since this will be a mini clapotis, probably only 2 more repeats before the straight section. Going well, kind of nervous it is going well. Once I learned how to do a pfb I was on my way. I think I have figured out why the YO's are there...is that were the dropped stitches end up???

Next up is my sock...only a mere few rows away from making heel flap! People are right, it is so easy and portable. I was stared at for a bit when I went to the docs with this...so what...I don't care :)

Scoop du Jour! The back is done (since about Sept. when I started other things)Since then I have learned to pick up stitches, fix knit/purl stitches..you know when you were supposed to K or P in the ribbing. Was too afraid since I had discovered it about 8 rows away...now HA, no prob! But I am not frogging all the way down there, no way...besides, it is my back...no one should be looking there ;). About 1/2 done left front, and...well you can see the progress on the right front.

Last but not least is the Red Scarf. Have switched needles a few times. Bamboo circ, to bamboo straights, to now my Denise's and it is going a lot better. I like the pattern, but my knit stitches that are next to the purl stitches (like in ribbing) were wonky...so luckily I brushed up on a topic at Knittytmwhere you wind clockwise when purling (yeah I knit english :)and when you knit it is through the back loop,. Not sure if I was supposed to do it all the way across but I am and it is tidying it up a ton. (watch out scoop!)
It is about 13" long...YIKES I got about 50" more...better get cracking on it!

Well...since I was kind of good today..slept in..did dusting, vacuuming, washed floors...blogged..Now I can knit and answer my questions for Knitty'sSP6!

WIP's.....what's that???

Gadzooks! I think I have too many to make one of those lovely progress bars in my sidebar...(hehe, too much work right now for that ;)

I have joined a sock a month along to motivate me to knit up that jumbo hefty bag of sock yarn. I also am making a red scarf this weekend for the Orphan Foundation of America. They are giving them away in Valentine care packages to foster children heading for college. So check out the link and if you have the time go for it. I'll warn you though, the mail deadline is 1/28 and if you live near the drop offs listed, 1/31. I am making the Magic Scarf ala Crazy Aunt Purl. Hopefully, I'll get it done and off by mid next week.

Finally cast on for the ever popular Clapotis for my Behind the times along project I am making a mini one with my 4 skeins of Noro silk garden...finished section number one last night. Well after many minutes of searching online on how the heck to do a pfb increase...me I have to have visual images. Found it and away I went. Until the next crisis on that :)

WGS-alias Weekend Getaway Satchel (will be further referred to as WGS), 2 more rows to COLOR..Yippee

Scoop Du Jour is moving along. Working on the fronts simultaneously...kind of. I wanted to do them both on the same needle butI was afraid I would mess up the armhole decreases (left from right...you know in my job it is vital I know my left from right...very vital...why do I mess it up w/knitting???) so one side is on the stockinette part and the other is getting started with the ribbing. Making it in LB cotton ease in ice blue...yum... sidenote on CE.. discontinued and I think I got all I could locally...hmmm **runs and hides plastic bin ful in case someone wants to steal it ;)

Sock progress....about 1" until....heel part...eeek!

DD's missing voodoo wrist warmer...still in project bag, you think those elves would just cast on and start it!!!That's it...no more WIP's until I get a few FO's I can't stand it...ha, who am I kidding..

Well I have the next five days off....hmmm an FO???Will....it....happen...stay tuned ;)

ABC Along

At Knittytm I have joined the ABC Along. This week is A. After much thought (you know I can almost think of anything else for the other letters...can't wait until the letter Z...hehe and it ain't gonna be a pic of me LOL!) So here's mine:

A vase of "Addis", surrounded by my panta for color coordination. And before you ask, no I don't have 50 million addi needles. I tucked the cords inside the vase :)

It's a bird???a plane??? its......

A sock!!! Well the top part anyways :) I can't believe it, I am using the ML technique with LB magic stripes...1. well because I love all the colors.
2. I got 2 skeins for $5...talking about 2 pairs of socks here.
3. I don't want to ruin my good stuff in case of severe frogging.

So far I have grown 4 stitches in the ribbing???like how??? fixed that by just K2tog, I mean it's my first pair, why frog (remind me of that later in case something happens ;) and now just SS until desired length...then I'll have to make the rest...hmmm...the rest...can I do it...stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel hehehe!

Wild panta

Manos #113 Wildflowers This is the first time using this, felt a little squeeky and dried my hands out, but I love the colors. The caliber of yarn was thick, medium, very thin, challenging at times to knit, but I liked it.

My version of the ever popular panta from http://www.crafster.org. I joined a KAL to give me hints, inspiration, etc... My first FO of 2006...for MEEEEEE! Let me tell ya...it is warm....way too warm for NC right now,
so I am off to my cotton ease stash to make a cooler one.

Yippee! Lookee on the Right!

I have a button!! Woot! Thanks in abundance goes to Domestic Overlord for being the inspired mind to design my button. I am...well...challenged on the creative front as far as computers go...but I am making progress on my blog as you can see to the right. What is totally weird...and cool at the same time is what she designed...I had a similar idea but never told her...let her have free rein.

Yeah I do read a few blogs...it can get almost as addicting as the Knittytm Coffeeshop. One does need a break from knitting and....well life...some people read, run, sleep, shop, read blogs...as for me I try to do it all...in no particular order. If only I didn't have a "day" job, cooking, laundry, cleaning...you know the usual stuff to do!

Later...........

A sewing laugh!

Well I did say I would be adding some sewing here and there. I made this pillow for my darling husband tonite. He recently had surgery and is cancer free (yippee) and needs a little extra "cushion" now that he is driving and soon to go back to work, so he came up with the saying...and I did the sewing. The fabric came from the stash....just so's you know...my yarn stash and fabric stash....well are close...the fabric is outweighing since I've been collecting for 15 yrs or so :) So without further ado...

He is very proud, and will carry it with pride...or so he says LOL!

Happy New Year!!

Sorry, about 5 days late, but I've been busy working away on the last 3 knitmas gifts!

I present the hat re-do...well, new-do??? First one was too small, so I made a new one for FIL out of LP bulky in oregano and the leftover sandy heather for the stripe. I used all the yarn, and that yarn was pretty good to knit with I must confess. I used my Denise's so sometimes it would split the yarn, but it mostly did pretty well. I also used my first plastic DPN's. Joanne's had a size US10 in the clearance area...and the US8's jumped in there too. They weren't too bad.

DH and his Irish Hiking Scarf...it was 3/4ths done for Christmas and given to him in a gift bag..he well, wasn't too amused..more like confused...But as you can see he likes it. Now if it will get cold enough for him to wear it. I made it in LB wool-ease wood. I probably will never use a variegated yarn again. As you can see it is hard to see the cables. In person you can. I learned how to cable and cable w/o a needle on this project. Woot! It did put me asleep many a night by totally relaxing me...how I don't know! It was a good, easy pattern from Hello Yarn.

Finally, The Elizabeth Bag from Black Sheep Bags. It is the larger version of the Sophie Bag. It was an easy knit, especially since I had previously made a Sophie, and it is pretty much the same, but on a bigger scale. HOWEVER!!! That 9-stitch I-cord almost sent me over the edge. I am...well...a perfectionist, and I wanted to do this strap really bad. After a few emails with the designer, who was of great help and support, I tackled the beast. It really makes a thicker, stronger strap. I used Patons Classic Merino in Denim Marble, almost 3 skeins. Three trips though the front loader and you can see the results. I did line it, with a little difficulty in the size, but learned a lot of what to do in the future. It is for one of the Docs I work with who can be pretty demanding but is so generous to me that I had to make her a bag. She's leaving this summer, and I already have the yarn to make her a OSW and Cutaway sweater as going away gifts...good thing I have until early June!
Pre-felted, it was huge, covered one half of my blocking board.
Post felted and I added a snowflake pin for decoration. That's it for now! Had way too much trouble getting these pics on...gotta go sleep! :)
