Mild sinus rant and etc! :)

I'm sitting here waiting for my spearmint tea to brew...just ingested 2 sinus headache pills...waiting for the pain between my eyes to leave. NC weather..I tell you...with the warm days...then cold days...then many warm days...it gets the flowers, grasses, etc. confused and the start their spring ritual of pollen releasing early...so for the next few months I have to endure this ritual of my house, car (new red one this year..hmmm will it turn orange??) and myself if I stay outside long enough. I like to try to do yardwork in the spring..plant things..but unless I want to sneeze them away and not see well and probably plant them upside down..I am forced indoors.

As for the sinus medicine...well I am quite perturbed. Here in NC you can only buy 2 boxes of any pseudophedrine enhanced sudafed type product every 30 days...or something like that...it used to be an overthecounter product, now you have to show your license, and sign a sheet that the cops can look at...FYI pseudophedrine is used to make a certain drug that is running rampid all over...so poor me is going to have to get family members to get it for me so I have enough in stock...UGHHH!

Enough of that ranting! Just got This and this in today with the green yarn shown, and a lighter pink that I don't like...hmmm

Started hubbys Thuja sock today with woolease worsted...let me tell you...like 4 rows is 1 inch! Wow, after knitting with sock yarn this should go quick! I also got in a set of 10.5 16" addis to work on hats, so my wrists shouldn't hurt so much using the doubled yarns. I strung 300 beads onto yarn today...yes folks 300 freaking beads...actually I threw in a few more on each in case..anyhow...they are for 2 Odessa hats to hopefully be started within the next week. I also casted on for DD's voodoo wristwarmer(sadly 2nd wristwarmer syndrome). I also have to swatch for her Kyoto sweater (I was gently reminded last nite about THIS and a pair of socks).

I printed out my certificate for participating in the Knitting Olympics, it is really awesome, even had some special paper to print it on...sniff I really wanted the medal..oh well...I am just so happy to be able to switch projects...I learned a lot...mainly I do not like being true to one knitting project at a time...I need variety. I would have finished I know it...darned yarn...wonder if it was a short skein ;)

D is for.....

Daffodils from my neighbors house. Sadly mine have not sprouted flowers yet! Here in NC the weather has been so mixed up....most of our spring plants are already starting to bloom and it isn't even March yet! So I will have a few more as the early budding progresses.

D is also for Dulaan. I decided to alternate between knits for me and the family to make a hat or scarf for them or the babies at the hospital, whichever one I feel like knitting. I have the yarns set aside, some from my early knitting days, some free, and some purchased at a great bargin just for this. So upon feeling a little down from being unable to finish my Olympic bag...I cast this on about 1am today and finished also today.. I just needed to finish something! So here is hat #2 (hat #1 is the FIL way to small hat from knitmas). hehe!

Lambs Pride Bulky in Orange you glad and Patons Divine in Floral Fantasy.. Really soft and I hope will be warm.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST! Kaleidoscope Yarns had a skein in the LP Wild Oak I needed...They were very fast in responding to my plea to make sure it was in stock before I ordered...I tell you with my luck on things lately..It is ready to be shipped! I cannot wait to finish!!

This ones for you Trixie G! Yarrrn Pr0n!

My poor dear TrixieG! She was my first SP! She is so waiting for her order of Kasula from Fleece Artist and is on pins and needles waiting for hers! I know I was! Here is mine..so much of this kid mohair(yikes 550 yds each)...I have absolutely no idea what to do with it...it is beautiful...what shall I do??? Help give me ideas! :)

With 9 hours left....

I had to put the needles down....my caramel (aka wild oak) LP is done...no more left..The color I didn't think would run out, as you can see...did...I could just throw in the choc. souffle and call it finished...but I didn't enter this just to finish something haphazardly...it would have looked funny and I probably wouldn't even use it..so it is folded up in it's project bag awaiting a new skein to finish. You know I just had to keep adding rows to make the caramel part thicker..and I underestimated. It was interesting to compete and read how lots of people started something that they had never done before. I am glad it is over, I really don't like to concentrate on one knitting item at a time...I like variety. It was really hard not to pick something else up. So my soft Odessa hat yarn is waiting in the wings to comfort me.

I'm not upset; things like this happen..I mean at least it wasn't all over the press "expecting a gold" like the it is for the athletes. I did the best I could...

On another note, hubby asked me today where his socks were...this is the man who I asked "would you wear a knitted tie?" NO! Would you wear socks? NO....upon seeing my face..he said, well in the house ok! So I have my woolease wound, needles and these socks ready to go. (I mean what has he seen me do for the past 16 days....)(not too observant is he..;)

Well it is early morning and I am off to bed for a few hours!

1 day....13hrs...26 min

To glory....hmmm or something like that! ;) (at least when I started this post it was that long left!)

I...CAN...DO IT!!! (ugh I sure hope so) Told you all I'm a crunch time person...don't necessarily like to be, and I often times not..I have actually finished items well before the needed time..

So, wild oak (aka caramel) is low in supply....so probably about 4 or 5 more rows then the strap...Only 1..phew! I figure I have been cooking on 214 stitches...going to 50, then to 38 should be like a piece of cake!! Wish me luck! You all know what I'll be doing tomorrow...or is it today by now???

Oh yeah, what a great timing...DD has a castle to build this weekend for a school project.

Last but not least...my SP sent me my fav. fabrics...Amy Butler...I love them and can't get them locally...so a surprise was in the mail for me!!! Too cool!
Thank you SP :)

More pics tomorrow!!! Maybe the finished ones ;)

4 days.....18 hrs...

Well I plan on Olympic flame doused our time for sure ;) Here's the progress so far on my bag of chocolate: chocolate base and 1 stripe...done, nougat of creme...2 more to go... topping of caramel with a strap...to follow...maybe by tomorrow.

Yes, I am working at the hospital...everyone is fed, clothed, loved, cleaned etc...no cuss...oops! I mean fuss words being said....yet...a few wrist pains...motrin coming.. I CAN DO THIS!

I think this is a neat bag and easy pattern!

Ok, since I probably won't be posting again until fait acommplete..ahem..I mean finished...I have a question for you! We buy shoes and clothes and often socks to coordinate and match....have you ever bought sock yarn...then shoes to match...my new faux chuck taylors ala Target I got to match...well..a FEW skeins of sock yarn!(trust me the most of the colors that are left have blue or red or both in them
lOL!)

Until next time :) take care

We have SOCKS!..& Knitting Olympics update

Ok, lunch is done...yummy chicken schnitzel sand. on german roll...fresh french fries...oops! Supposed to be talking about my socks! Yes people, they are officially done and on my feet now!! Not totally mistake free, but I have learned a lot to say the least. So I debut my first socks!

Magic stripes in Lumbarjack Black: 1 skein used with tiny left over for repairs, US # 3 addi for ML/US#3 DPN's! Like I said I learned a lot! Ribbing on the 2nd one was better, as was the toe decrease (made sure not to misplace stitch marker), and kitchner stitching was better. Had to redo the 2nd one last nite as I was watching the snowboard cross...messed up when a certain person fell and lost the gold. They are pretty comfy, hate the yarn, will only use it again to make DD's as I already have it in stash. I gave away the other ball to a Knitwhit member as she couldn't find it anywhere in town. Needles and yarn for next pair standing by. The length is ok, but next ones with be shorter, and definately anklets in the future too!

Knitting Olympics Update! Day 9! Only 7 more days!

It is posing on a box of Godiva chocs. My hubby's V-Day pressie from me! He's had a rough year and has deserved this! (I got a larger box so he could share..it's chocolate you know ;)

You can see a ridge, that is the base and about 3" into the sides! Total is supposed to be 14" tall. Almost done skein 1 of the chocolate souffle, next skein about to go on! (2 in the wings!) Not sure how much more before I start the stripes..should have them started by tomorrow. Next 2 whole days off, no where to go..cold outside...darn, wish I had a fireplace...

Anyways...I am more of a crunch time accomplisher...and since the sock is done, nothing else gets done until this is ready to felt. A few of my co-athletes are finished...a lot of us not...we...will..perservere!!

My SP package has arrived!

My SP package arrived!!! I was so happy and look at the outside packaging! All my favorite things...knitting, sewing, and shoes...too cool!

Then to the inside! Knitters bible (truly needed that!) Chicken funny book! Chocolate milk mix! Cute little flip flop photo frame and some cards made especially for me to use by Miss Pickle of the Knittyboardstm !

EDITED TO ADD: I have gotten an emergency email from my dear and loving SP...the chocolate mix...isn't for milk! It is for my bath!!! Whew, saved again by my SP ;) I can't wait to use it tonite!! mmmmm (smelling anyways!)

Modeling my scarf! It is awesome and matches all my coats! Very much needed today as it is threatening to snow here in NC!

This yarn was cleverly disguised in this box! My SP has a good sense of humor and she tested said product inside, not good reports so she saved me my sanity for sure! Thank you for that! ;) It is Rowan Polar in my favorite shades of chocolate and green! LOVE IT!

I don't have a clue who my SP is...and I am not looking to find out..yet...she (or she could be a he?? who knows!) is still annonnymus to me! I love all my stuff! Thank you so much!

Lunch has arrived....more later! ;)

Yummy, neopolitan colorway dyed by Heather! Check out her site/button to the right! I cannot wait to cast on...it looks so good, enough to eat..

ETA: These will become socks...was bumped up in the sock color queue! So now...neopolitan...cupid...argyle...NO MORE yarn bumping I promise...ahem...I have one of those jumbo bags full of sock yarn... :)

Day 3 of Competition

And, not too much progress...no pic. :(! I have only 4 more inches to go and base is finished. Stockinette puts me to sleep, no matter the time of day...WHY!!! I mean I know it is kind of boring...but geesh! I am becoming a narcoleptic stockinette knitter or what!! I will attempt a few more rows before I go to bed...

My rescue yarn came in today! I am the proud owner of 2 more skeins of chocolate souffle LP worsted! They are in the project bag getting acquainted with their long lost cousin!

This came in today! My yarn for Odessa! My first time knitting with Rowan yarn. I have a couple of dk wool skeins in the stash, just haven't used them yet. It is very soft, and very much like the Cashmere luxury dk at my ACMoore's so, any future hats will have that yarn. I wasn't going to get the yarn at first, but while I found the LP choc. souffle yarn on the site, this flew into the cart, along with some SP yarn...and...well...after the purchase I found out no choc. souffle..so I got lotus pink as a substitute..

On the sock front...so close...but so far!!! Only about 1 inch left until toe decreases, which should be interesting as...well...I kind of am 8 stitches short. I tried it on and it fits quite well, so I didn't frog it. I really think it will be ok. I have learned so much from this pair that next time will be easier and I hope a heck of a lot faster...

Off I go...pairs skating happening right now!

Knitting Olympics---Day 1 of Competition

Well after day 1 of competition, you can see the results below. The base is half done and I really enjoy knitting with the LP worsted. Very soft! My additional needed skeins are on their way :)

Goals for tomorrow: Finish base, and pick up stitches and start to knit the lower half of the bag!

I have been watching the Olympics off/on all day, recorded this evening's events so I can FF through the commercials..etc.

My other project due about the same time is for the Sockamonthalong, you can see the progress on the second sock! I will make it!

Nite all, a few more rows of sock to do!

T-14 hours.......

To CAST ON my Knitting Olympics project! According to the rules Yarn Harlot says we can cast on at 2pm wherever we are! So breaktime here I come!

2 skeins of the chocolate souffle have been found, thanks to JerryandMaxy and will be on their way to me soon. I am very sure I will not need them before next weekend!!

Had my eye exam and eye dilation today. Finally got new prescrip. sunglasses (others were like 5 yrs old) and new glasses on the way...I'll be stylin in no time. I can see well close up...far away..well is blurry. Also seeing floaters(ees) which is normal...whew! But I now have a headache and eyes ache??

Well gotta go get some rest!! I got a competition starting tomorrow... ;)

Math...stinks...and hmmmm

Well due to a math error on my part, I will probably not have enough of the chocolate souffle LP for my hobo chic bag. Trying to order it online, but no luck so far...anyone reading this...have any you want to swap? Put in a call to Knittytm coffeeshop, maybe someone will have it. I hope :)!

On a good note, my SP (who spoils me) is a hoot! She keeps me in stitches literally. Between her and CBear19, I have been kept in a good mood, when things could be...well...put it this way...sad...

Oh and me the addictive joiner..joined this KAL
Odessa Hat designed by Grumperina ...yarn is on order and so far I think it is in stock LOL! I just need to find beads. Looked today, and forgot my notes, turned out they were the correct size..oh well another store...
Socks are on the heel flap...this one coming out mucho better! :) I can do this!!
Well gotta go, swaps and SP goodies to pack! Nite

ETA: well a lot deleted cause after I shut down the computer...well this person could have figured me out...man I gotta keep the secret more than 1 week you think??

A little Toting and Receiving and Knitting

Wow, Hi, can't believe it is February, and finally posting. I've been hard at work sewing totes and needle rolls. I am also trying to finish my socks before the Knitting Olympics starts on Friday.

I swapped some of the coveted cotton ease yarn for these stitchmarkers and some chocolate :) from Turtlegirl76 Finally have some perfect for sock markers. Even though I have the goods to make them, they are soo much prettier made by someone else.

Here's a cute water bottle I received from my Knitwhit buddies in return for a few needle rolls made by moi. Very cute and will be well used for sure!

Oh yeah, now the totes. I have made 6 this week! (thus not a heck of a lot of knitting, but that's ok..its time is coming) Whew!! 3 are for me :)) and 3 are for a good buddy of mine, who'll remain kind of nameless right now as at least 1 of them is for her swap buddy, so I'll post those pics later. Without further adieu!
I call this my funky bag; I am also making 2 needle rolls with this fabric and a coordinating stripe...those not done yet

To the left is my new knitting bag, to the right my new purse. I just love this fabric. I change knitting bags and purses daily, weekly, whenever the mood suits me...(so don't fear SP..I love bags as much as fiber!) And all colors...oh btw that is gold in them there rings not yellow! (SP knows what I mean)

Finally, a little knitting going on! I wanted to prove I didn't get the dreaded second sock syndrome..you can see the proof below..I also frogged the toe and reworked it. It is a lot better and finished as far as I am concerned. My goal this week is to finish this by Friday and fulfill my Sock-a-Month KAL for February.

Later!
