YPF!

Hi! I betcha thought I forgot!! Well a few hrs late due to..ahem..only 1 computer for use!

I present another skein of 100%Purewool..

Hot Pink & Brown 100% Purewool

2 of my favorite colors! Hot Pink and Brown!
Hot Pink & Brown 100% Purewool
100% Purewool

Well off to lunch and more sessions...I've visited 3 LYS's so far, a few more on the horizon...I kind of get overwhelmed...seeing yarn live in person before I buy!

Just Boogie!

I got the Boogie Fever....(I didn't want that to be the title LOL!)

boogie1

Boogie Vest from Knitty
Lamb's Pride Bulky in Deep Charcoal, US 10's-Started with Denise needles, but because of my tight knitting and dragging, Bamboo circ's were used.

Although the color is darker as you'll see below, this was the best picture I could get of the cabling. I love to do cables! I currently have 2 cable WIP's right now and at least 1 more in the queue. The bulkiness did not allow me to cable without a needle, which I really like to do.

It would have been a quicker knit if I didn't have to sneak a few other projects in. I did have to redo the neckline as I did have a cable going the wrong way. I was so proud of myself that I fixed it by dropping down 7 stitches to do so....after I fixed it, upon closer exam, I realized I had messed up the beginning of the neckline by not following the pattern, and the kind of picky person that I am... it did get frogged and reknit.

Oh...did you want to see it on me?? It fits...I finally made something without arms that fits! Come to think of it, I haven't made anything with arms that fits...yet ;)

The Boogie pose

I may tuck in the shirt when I wear it for real! Sorry, no face as it was a looong day yesterday and I don't look spry!

It is warm and will be perfect for my trip! I get new socks and a vest to bring. Had to get a new suitcase. Hubby swore I'd have enough room..duh, something a man would say...When I told my son there may not be room for giftees, let alone yarn he told me, maybe you'd better get another one! You see, unbeknownst to me, they had thrown out the largest one we had.

All better now, I'm packed and ready to go...gotta do like 1001 things before I leave for the airport. Driving 1 1/2 hrs away as the gov't won't pay for us to fly out of the airport in our city and leaving verrrrry early. I probably overpacked the knitting. But you know, if I want to fit anymore yarn in...I'd better get knitting..right!

I'll be back next week! If I get computer access I'll check in.
Take care everyone!

February Socks....

Thuja from Knitty.com. This is my 2nd time knitting this pattern. I like the way these turned out better than the first pair...which was only my second pair of socks at the time.

STR thujas
STR Jingle Bell Rock Heavyweight 350 yds. After knitting the Thuja's on US 5's; even though the original pattern calls for US 6's. It looks and feels good. The yarn is soft, yet firm, hard to explain. I do like it and have what you see below leftover....That is a lot...

STR leftovers
Maybe some ankle socks, that way when it gets too hot this summer, I'll have my little ankle socks out of leftovers to use for work!

Since I have a few socks on the needles (eek! 2 pairs and 2 to cast on for March's KAL's) March Sock Madness may be happening as I'd like to have all 4 pairs done....and a sweater...and so on and so on!

Purewool Pr0n Friday...

May I present 100% Purewool in Egoiste!

Egoiste 100% Purewool

Egoiste Purewool

Egoiste Purewool

Egoiste Purewool

Sadly....I only purchased 1 skein! What to do with it! ;) It is comparable to Malabrigo as I am told. I haven't knit with this yet as it just arrived today. I have just started using some Malabrigo and it is so soft, the Purewool feels even softer!

100 Purewool here or you can get it here Ebay Store. I got mine in a yarn co-op, but it is the same yarn as is listed here.

Well off to knit more!! Hope to have FO pics for you this weekend!

Back Up!

Heh! I know I don't have to tell any of you this...back up yer files do I?? ;) I know it is a pain, and you don't want to do it...procrastinate, etc...me too! I only wished I had backed up a bit more and backed up my MSN saved files....darn it...lost a lot of good things there. Sigh...

Well we got our PC back from the Doc's. It's diagnosis was an unrecoverable worn out, just dog-gone tired hard drive...so it now has a new one and has been given to darling daughter for her use. Upon re-installing the many security programs one must have in this day and age...a virus was already trying to get it's way in as we were installing the programs! Geesh!

All is well and itunes was reloaded with back up disk. Said back up disk was before Christmas when DD did not have nano. Some 40+ downloaded songs later (lots of giftcards as pressies!) , and virus crashed computer (clickage on a baaaad link) they are totally unrecoverable. Itunes only allows you to download song once. :( Very sad DD! I only lost about 5 or 6 new songs since it was most of my music on the back up CD. Do you know what a PIA it is to have 2 ipods on 1 computer!!! Not...fun..

Look forward to new PC for me and hubby to arrive any day now. Now I won't have to fight share with her for internet time...although I probably should be knitting! Can't wait to see the new photo editing software either!!

EEEKK! No Boogie yet, up to my eyeballs in f** f*r! Soon, very soon!!

A very knitting weekend!

Friday was mandatory training day at work. So all morning I sat in a very warm, old army theater and listened to all the speakers, all the while keeping a secret....

I knit all of the cuff of Sock 2 of my Jingle Bell Rock Thuja's. Sock 1 has been done since December, so I thought it was high time it got it's mate. This was a perfect easy pattern to knit with in the semi-darkness. Hoping to finish this during lunchtimes this week at work!

Due to a 3 day holiday, I stayed home and knit as much as possible. Yeah, still had the household stuff to do, but I didn't venture out at all!

More progress on my
Karen's Sugar-Free Socks. They do go a bit slower knitting both at once, but I am getting there! Only 1 and 1/2 more repeats for the leg then on to the rest. Using Cascade 220 superwash. I learned an important lesson....wind your yarn buns (yes, that's what I call those rounded puffy skeins of yarn!) When knitting with 2 skeins, it is a bit easier to keep untangled if the working yarn isn't a huge bun! I was hoping to get these done for February, but seriously, I need a warm vest, hat, and scarf/neckwarmer! So we shall see!

Onto my Boogie Vest Front. I am at the neckline separation! Finally, A light at the end of a tunnel! So far plenty of yarn! I haven't been able to cable without a needle due to the bulkiness of the LP, yes folks LP Bulky in Deep Charcoal. There is no way to not use one on this knit. But that's ok! So hopefully by Wed. the front/back will be blocking and ready for seaming just in time! Hehe, Sapphire was my friend most of this weekend while I was knitting. She's catching up some winks now!

So goals for this week: Finish Boogie Vest
Finish a pair of socks ?? which ones
Hat
Scarf
Secret Knitting...

Stay tuned and see what I do get done! ;)

BTW-had to use blogger for pics. Flickr's getting a massage. Will update later, sure was weird to use blogger again!

Friday's Fetchingly Fiber

Happy Friday! Hope all of you that have been sick get better very soon! Now if I can stay away from the chocolate! ;)

Classic Elite

Classic Elite Classic Silk-50% cotton, 30% silk, 20% nylon-Purple Onion Colorway

This yarn is courtesy of my CASP2 Yarnit. It is a really nice yarn! Soft and not too bad to knit with for a cotton based yarn. I love the color and the name is perfect. I love Onions LOL...hmmm wonder if she knew that? Grumperina just finished a sweater with it, well in a different color. This yarn is perfect for down here. Talking sweater...now to find more!

So what did that skein of silky cotton become.........
Fetching Gloves
Fetching from Knitty! Less than 1 Skein of the above yarn, Knitpicks Options-US 6, done with Magic Loop. Thank you everyone before me who suggested ML vs. dpns. Let me tell you..well some of you may already know...those options cords totally rock for ML!! I mean, they just stay out of your way, don't have a memory, etc, etc.... I had to use dpn's for the thumb and trying to keep from forming holes was a bit tricky too! I did have to disquise a few of them. ;)

My mod's were-no picot bind off, but did 2 extra rows before bind off, an extra row of cables, and I did a few extra rows on the thumb, of 1...duh me thought I did it on the other. No cable needle, which I love to do. Wendy has a great video and still picture instructions in case you've never tried it!

Yeah, a lot of people have already knit a pair, some even more than one! As usual, I'm a behind, but that's fine with me. Luckily in time to take on my trip in a couple of weeks! Errr..gotta get cracking though, I have a few things I'd like finished to take with me or I may freeze! I'm going to Seattle for a week, have checked out a few LYS's and got great help from some Knittyfolks and hope to meet a few!

Fetching Gloves
But....mine aren't like others...I have a designer element in mine....can you tell what it is???

1st correct comment answer gets a yarny prize!!

BTW- the pattern has you do the cables twisting right and left, I sure didn't invent it! :)

ETA: Winner has been chosen! Thanks Christy!

If you can spare a square.....

Rebekah is organizing a blanket to be made for Sonya's, husband who just found out he has cancer. Rebekah is asking for any size and shape squares in wool or wool blends to make this a very warm blanket for him to use during his treatments. She wants this to be a crazy quilt. Her email is on the left sidebar of her blog.

blanket of hope

As many of you may know, my Mom died of breast cancer and my hubby had prostate cancer last year (very young for that too!). My uncle just had surgery a few weeks ago to have his cancer removed only to get a blood clot and almost not make it. I really hate this disease, it's taken a lot of my loved ones and many of yours too! A lot of people recover, which is wonderful, I hope for more all the time! I work around this everyday, so I just never seem to get away from it.

I try to help where I can, and you know that I usually have to swatch like crazy for projects, so I'm donating my wool swatches and a few more other ones. ;)

So if you can, join in!

Thanks for reading! :)

The Stories.....

This yarn could tell! The travels it has made. The people who have read the addresses and wondered...WTH!

yarn I won a blog contest over at Knitpastis. These are two of her hand-dyed yarns, just love the colors too! Thank you!

The prize decided on it's own when it would arrive. As far as I can guess, that green customs tag that got attached to my package by mistake at the PO was the cause of the .....
Project1
See right above, Misrouted to Uganda! I think it was just not attached well enough to the correct package and got stuck on mine. I sure hope the intended person in Uganda gets their jeans though! When I received it, I saw the return address and knew who it was from, but I was wondering why the customs tag was on there.

You know, this is the 2nd time in about a month a yarny package I've been waiting for has been misrouted....wonder if this is a sign?? hmmmm.....

Have you ever wondered what stories your yarn could tell?

YPF!

Some of you may remember this below. It is a Panta headband and was all the rage all over blogland last year.

The before........

Manos Del Uruguay in Wildflowers
Less than one skein. But as it was a bit too tight on my head and would not stay put, and basically, I didn't like or wear it much. So I present frogged Manos!

Frogged yarn

Quite a few lovely colors in there.
Frogged yarn
Nice side o'yarn cake!
Frogged yarn
So what did it become....

Calorimetry 2

Calorimetry #2!

I used only 100 stitches and did only 12 short rows (possibly 10, I forgot!) I didn't straighten the yarn before I reknit, I liked how it looked. This one fits much better, not as loose. My other one is fine, I do need to add another button to that one though!

I bring this to you from hubby's laptop...um a bit different to type on! Our main PC died yesterday! Sigh...good think I had uploaded most of this post to flickr already as I didn't think there was any photo editing software on the laptop! Squee...there are 2 programs so you won't have to just read posts for the next 2 weeks as I'll be able to post pictures. Yes, we've been researching new PC's with more storage so we had an idea, we just had to order a bit earlier than expected.
It was close though, I had just spent a few hours last weekend downloading to CD's all the family pics, papers, etc...still lost a bit, nothing major...um I hope!

Steel...the Stainless kind!

Blogstalking has resumed...

Post 5 things around the house in your favorite color. Well, red is my most favorite color, and pink, and green, and blue...and on... but to find 5 things of each, was not going to happen, until the lightbulb in my brain went off!

I..um...kinda like Stainless Steel!

SS Fridge My fridge/freezer, which I love the ice/water feature on the front, but that's about it! The fridge side is just too small for our family, when it's the holidays and I want to prepare, you just have to beware when you open the door LOL! But I'm stuck til we either move or it dies....we did howevah, learn a very important lesson...MEASURE the height! We had to cut the cupboard above when we first got it, then again to have the tile placed.

SS Toaster Dualit toaster. Hubby brought this back all the way from Wisconsin! Heh! It was his first time in a W-S store (he didn't realize you could order it) so home it came with him.

SS coffee makerBunn coffeemaker! The round tube in the back holds the already hot water! So awesome early in the morning to have only a couple of minutes to get the fix!

SS switchplate covers Switchplates! I had to order these online, only because of the 4 switch one you see, no one locally had any nice ones with 4 openings. So I saw these and now all the switches and outlet covers are SS!

SS Yarn Colander Colander...or should I say Yarnlander! ;) You can also see the SS tile backsplash behind the stove, I have the same tiles behind my sink (which hide a multitude of poor installation damage done to install the sink light) Never, ever send your hubby for the final inspection when buying a house!!

So there..um.. and that isn't all, but I limited it to these 5! Oh and sorry that they aren't all polished and shiny...but, one has to have time to knit! ;)

Knitting going on!! Toothpick knitting (really topsecret knitting, will be posted in the future!), vest knitting-starting on 2nd skein and looking good, socks to be started.. and on...and on!

This yarn may be familiar to you! It's been featured with a friend before, but here it is all alone this time!

Lamb's Pride Bulky

Lamb's Pride Bulky in Deep Charcoal
Gorgeous

Not much to say....but I love this yarn in about any color..but yellow ;)
Ribbing

Boogie Vest in progress!

Ribbing

Ribbing on the back is done, onto the rest! Hopefully in a few days or less ;)
Happy YPF!
