Wednesday WIP

Loving the Loop should be the title!

We have a sleeve..well 1" and bind off away! I enjoyed knitting this magic loop style. My increases were done by Kf&b of the first and last stitch and despite a row of tiny holes (which I'm confident will block out) it's not too bad! Sleeve 2 to commence later today.
We have a Sleeve!!

Sock 1 done (you'll have to wait to see!), sock 2..well..um..hoping I can finish in 4 days to count for my monthly KAL's. One can only work on tiny US 1's for so long per day.
Garter Rib SocksYes, magic looping again. Something about it lately that I enjoy knitting. Other than just knitting in the round on circulars for like a hat, it is the first method I learned for socks, before dpn's and 2 circs.

I am quite proud of myself. These are the only 2 things being knit right now..lots more are planned and I will fall off the wagon tomorrow nite for a planned hat making session....oh well! ;)

Sigh.....

1 day shy of 3 weeks.....since my sewing machine has been in the shop.....just called and checked and there are still 10 more ahead of me for repair. Poor man is all alone and doing the best he can. I couldn't be mad at him... I'm just disappointed in the dealership. Another case of sell, sell, sell, heck with the fact we can't service your machine in a timely manner!!!!! Being a no. 1 seller in your area doesn't mean jack you know what if you can't service your machines!!! I hope to see the owner when I finally do pick it up. Sad state of affairs... Hmm...maybe hubby needs to learn sewing machine repair.

There is no one within 100 miles of me and it must go to an authorized dealer. So wait I must....deal with back up machine I must....I will try! If it turns out I cannot make the needle cases in my perfectionist manner....then wait we all must, possibly 2-3 weeks more..

By that time, hoping someone even "wants" anything sewn by me....

YPF-Autumn Edition

From the Loopy Ewe 2007 Sock Club, Fall Mailing. Yeah, it wants to be Autumn here..ha!! Forecast for Saturday and Sunday!! 93 degrees and higher......

013
Claudia Handpainted in Loopy Colorway. Hehe..I spy yellow!!

Loopy Ewe Fall Sock Club 2007

012 I really like the colors, not sure if I'll use the pattern for this colorway though. I'm thinking maybe mini Monkey's or something else...hmmm

Sock clubs can be fun, I recommend it if you can or want to join, as it does get you from being in a color rut. It did it for me...I mean come on now, those who know I dislike yellow...*cough* there's a lot of yellow going on around here...maybe I'm cured...well I'll never be cured for pure yellow yarn...now golden, that's another story for another YPF ;)

Wip's....of the week, where to find, and a PSA

No time this morning to post and I just got home from work/skate nite. Plus, hubby is hogging this computer to do his Master's degree work..hmm..doesn't he have his own computer?....

So as you can see upsidedownly, my 2 fronts. (tried to fix, but it looks funky...so humor me!) They'll be blocking this weekend along with the back and soon to be seamed.
Both Fronts
Knit at the same time, not too bad tangling wise either, not like sock yarn anyways. Did fine until the decreases....the instructions have you knit the Right side first, ok, fine, but when you get to the Left side, just reverse instructions... Here's where they had to be separated.

The right sides went fine (decrease on knit side), just follow instructions..but the left!! geesh! If I reversed like they said to...I'd bind off the appropriate # of stitches, but be left with one stitch... So I finally looked a few other patterns and decreased on the purl side and it looks just the same...sigh...even the same length... Needless to say, I like patterns that explain every side/detail, etc. I'm not that experienced yet!

Bear with me, this is my first knitted adult object with long sleeves! ;)

Sleeve 1 started Sleeve 1, knit magic loop style. I'm pretty happy with this so far, fits well. Calls to cast on 36 sts..well you in the know, when you don't seam you are supposed to remove 2 sts..so I did..k2,p2..um..er..why is there 3 knit sts...duh, can't divide 34 by 4...so down to 32 and it's fine. I have to increase every 4th row until I get to a certain number of stitches. I am knitting in the front/back of the stitch for the increase. I like it, and it will be on the underside and not show too much. Would love to get sleeve 1 done this week...we'll see.

Garter rib sockSadly, due to above knitting, poor Garter Rib is being a little neglected. At the heel flap now!! Not a great picture..sigh..too dark for a by the mum picture this week.

Before I forget!! Julie from Noolie Knits is walking the Light the Night Walk for her friend Betty who has Multiple Myeloma. Most of you know how I feel about cancer and how it's affected my life and many others out there. So if you can, donate to the walk and get a chance to win some great Prizes, one of which is a custom made needle case from me!

Got a few cases done...slowly, and hope for more this weekend...soon..my friends...soon!!

Blogstalker 2-Who am I?

Ok, so I joined another round of Knittyboard Blogstalking! It's fun, and I love reading new blogs. Yeah, I know I should be doing other things, but sometimes I just need to zone..esp. at 2 or 3 am..yeah I'm an insomniac...sigh! So who am I other than an insomniac...a wife, mother, fiber lover, and xray tech (which I have to do to pay the bills and for my crafting needs) ;)!

Someone who really wants to have her own craft room!!! hehe! The ever organized and still somewhat disorganized knitting corner! Hubby has the rest of those shelves for school books, etc. I've been kicked to the corner here, literally!
Knitting corner Yeah see that basket o'WIP's! (the swift is on the top (pink, red striped bag), why I have no clue. Soon..I will get these done!!

The sewing wall! Oh to just have a bit more room in the back of the sewing machine! Let alone my sewing machine back from the shop! (yeah I know your tired of hearing it, but man...I need to get sewing!!) You can see some cases in progress here
Sewing corner

Words my family lives by!
Words to live by
Although hubby is getting a little brazen lately!! I've been seeing him eyeing stuff and moving his school stuff into my areas...hmmmmm men!!

Off to try to sew a bit, and knit!

YPF-The Dude Edition

Meet my new Dude.......

STR

STR

STR
You can't see it as well, but I know that there are more reds in this as you can see Here!

They will be my Winter Holiday socks this year! I'll be starting them in November. Not sure of a pattern, it's a mediumweight. So we'll see what it transpires into.

Off to knit my cardi!! I want to finish the fronts this weekend, I'm only 1/2 way there...sigh..
BTW...I have questions! I'd love to knit the sleeves in the round. Do I need to decrease 2 stitches that would be for the seams? Also, I'm thinking I can do this until the sleeve caps, am I right?? All help will be so appreciated! This is my first real sweater...yep...it is!

Wednesday WIP!

Had some internet problems this morning, so here you go!

Start of Garter Rib socks, just a posing on my new mums (hubby asked why I got more victims, he laughs at my attempts at having a green thumb)
Ribs on Mums!

The 2 fronts of the EDC moving along!
Everyday Cardi

Oh, and an FO, Hurry-up Spring Wristwarmers . It's really hard to see the patterning due to the variegation of the yarn. But the recipient loves the colorway and how they were knitting up so she'll be surprised when she gets them. Hoping they don't fuzz up too early though.

Hurry up Spring Armwarmers
In Malabrigo worsted-Little Lovely colorway
Less than 1 skein
US size 7 dpns

Not much sewing going on, my stand in doesn't like thick fabrics....sigh...

Scarf Swap

I was lucky and did get my scarf Friday nite, but totally forgot to post a picture until tonite!
finished scarf Sorry, doesn't match my shirt LOL! Poor Marlena, she was asking questions about the yarn...kind of mysteriously, I thought she wanted to get some for herself. Well version 1 was almost done and she was almost out of yarn. So I tried it on, and um..it was wrapped like this at the neck and both sides touched the floor. I'm only 5'3"...yikes. So, nice gal that she is, she frogged the whole thing and made it shorter! Version 2 is perfect now, I mean, I can already trip on my own 2 feet, don't need any help! ;)

One-Skein Crochet Scarf from SnB Crochet, The Happy Hooker. The first link is to Paton's patterns, which has it free, you just have to register.

Inspection Lorna's Laces Worsted in Jeans Colorway
I received it as part of a swap. You see it here doubled, being inspected by Sapphire! She's not a photo loving kitty, not like some kitties we know and love! ;) I wouldn't mind a hat in this...hmmm I think someone was destashing some...

I'm almost done with armwarmer 2, hope to post it soon!

Anyways! I got my good old Singer sewing machine to work, so hoping I can start cranking out some needle cases.....wish me fast sewing luck!

YPF-The Not Mine Edition!

What does she mean by that you say! Well, it's not my yarn!

It is a lovely yarn, in fact, it's name is Little Lovely in Malabrigo Worsted. These lovely shades of pinkness belong to a friend in my knitting group. She hasn't knit a lot, but does beautiful crochet. So, we are in the midst of a knitting/crocheting swap.

I think I have the better end of the deal though! This yarn is so soft!!

Malabrigo Worsted

So nice on the fingers and hands!
Malabrigo Worsted

Malabrigo Worsted As you can see, the Hurry Up Spring Armwarmers are in progress are for her. I am getting a scarf knit in LLaces Worsted, which I'll post when she's done..which will probably be tomorrow at her rate!

Wednesday WIP

Geesh, it's already Wednesday! I don't have much to show, I did finish the Red Scarf as you saw before. Ribbi Shell has not progressed either.

But....the back of the Everyday Cardi is finished! Started the 2 fronts. Hoping when armhole decreasing starts, I'll do it right...therefore, I have hung an "R" marker on the appropriate side.

Everyday Cardigan

Hey Shannon , glad we aren't racing! This is all I've accomplished on the socks!
Cast on of Garter Rib Socks

Saw this color combo on someones blog. Liked it...cast on.. (ball band dishcloth, case you were wondering ;)
Ballband dishcloth

My great plans of sewing a ton of needle cases fell apart. Sunday, my sewing machine broke and it is at the shop...with like 20 other machines ahead of it. 2 or more weeks!!! ARGH! So I pulled out my trusty Singer. (hoping it still will after being neglected for like a few years...I'll be gentle with her, she's quite the workhorse and has made many a curtain, scrub tops, baby clothes, flags, almost anything and still was kicking.) Looks like a nice oil and cleaning job will be a little spa treatment for her.

Anyone wanting a needle case, hang in there! Hoping not too long.

My pal CBear is doing a bit of destashing as well! See her for lace, and sock weight yarns and some Malabrigo and Shine worsted (not sure how much will be left when you read this though) ;)

Thanks for helping with the destashing, there is still some available and I may do it again in the future.

Red Squishyness!

Here's my Red Scarf for 2008! I'll only get one done this year due to too much going on, but I am just happy to have it finished well before the deadline. Go me!! It'll be mailed soon.

Red Scarf 2008
Doesn't this look so soft and squishy?? It is! This yarn is so nice to knit with!

Red Scarf 2008
Gotta love those big stitches huh!

Red Scarf 2008
A roll of warmth in there!

Details: 2 skeins of Knitpicks Sierra in Cranberry/BTW it is now called Cadena
70% Wool, 30% Alpaca
Very nice to knit with, plan on getting this yarn again one day.
Knitpicks Options, US 13 x 60" cord (could have used the 40", but oh well!) Bind off with US 15

Finished size 5.5" wide x 64" long, well within the requirements, plus it is Unisex! No froufrou scarf here!

Pattern: Me own! Cast on 150 stitches...yes, 150, and I do them long tail! Knit every row until you run pretty close to being out of yarn, beware to leave enough for bind off! (ask me how I know this!! ) Although on this scarf I didn't run out of yarn, but when it was at least 5" wide unblocked, I said 1 more row...ok, looking good, how about 1 more row...ok...hmmm maybe 1 more row, I mean I didn't want any scraps. A little voice said...um..BIND OFF NOW! I listened to that little voice too.

007 See, not nearly enough for another row and cast off! Phew, that was a close one!

ETA: In order to make a stretchier bind off. I often use a needle 2-3 sizes bigger than the one used to knit the item. I tell myself not to tighten, just bind off as loose as possible!
