Wednesday Not WIP

Sorry no WIP's this week, too busy printing postage and recovering, and my arms are sore from shots for work!! (I wished I didn't have any WIP's ;)

I present to you.........the Everyday Carptigan

Everyday Carptigan
Named Carptigan by our very own Turtlegirl! Why...well this past weekend I took it to SAFF for buttonage sewing. The night before I left...hubby requested his fish be fried....I did NOT burn it, but suffice it to say, said fish fumes gathered on it. (see...fish...carp...need I say more?)They (the fumes) did not gather on anything else in the house (your needle cases are safe!!) but just this...of course. Maybe it was the semi drying state of the wool...who knows.
Much was said by certain peeps about it being allowed near or in the room or vehicles...but they were nice and let the Carptigan come along. I didn't get to wear it and another kind soul sniffed it and didn't smell the obvious smells I did...heh...so much for nose surgery huh, now it invents smells!

Peace Fleece Everyday Cardigan Kit-Worsted
Hemlock Poashja Colorway
US 6 and 8 LM and KP circs
6 skeins

New techniques learned. Sleeveages in the round. Seaming, I love my Knitter's Companion for all seaming techniques all the time! (thanks Cpurl!). My first adult button band...oh rant on that...I could only get 7 out of 8...wth! And my first collar pick up.

I know you are all going to ask...no model picture..well there may never be! 10 pictures and they all stunk....badly. It barely buttons (yes I made the right size due to measurements) and even though I coerced 3 more inches, shorter than I like. Dropped sleeves or whatever you call them..not flattering to me. So unless I shrink or lose some frontage, it'll sit in the closet, looking pretty!

Did I also say this is my first adult sweater? Well, sometimes your first one doesn't always work out. So I'm not too upset (yeah now I can order another green yarn for another project). I've picked myself up and dusted off...hehe..Onward to the Tilted Duster, I know that won't be too short LOL!! Mucho thanks to Aimee for allowing me to try hers on for sizing! Woot!

Oh and despite pics you may have seen of me lately...um..no wheel yet (quite a while from that) and remember, I was busy spinning...hands were busy...um..couldn't do other things LOL!!! Yes I will post...part tomorrow and part Friday for YPF!

Until then......
PS only 1 needle case left!! Yay! um..yikes! More sewing to be done!

My favorite chips of all time...um..the Sourcream/onion are almost gone...couldn't help it!! An awesome recipe book, cannot wait to use it, chocolate and pop lobsters, a moose magnet, sigh..postcards to remind me of places I've actually been to and a catalog to prepare my shopping list for our upcoming trip in December!! Thanks so much! This was perfect and a great ending to the day!

Aha!!! What some of you peeps have been waiting for! Hopefully not with baitlike breath either...I mean some of you live with other peeps!! ;)!

All of my current inventory is there! There are so many more coming in the next week. Check back often as I'll update every few days! No custom orders at this time. I really want to catch up with what I have. If you have emailed me pertaining to a particular fabric before today, you are safe. Those cases are still in progress. I'll let you know when I am up to custom orders. Some of you have been on my email listing for a few months as well. Hang in there! They are coming!

Spunky Eclectic Hey Karen, what is it with me and yellow? A color I do not really like, well by itself. I'd say about 1/3 of my sock yarn stash has yellow in it! Who knew?

Spunky Eclectic
Another reason for my title.....what this weekend will be all about....connecting...

Wednesday WIP

Only 2 more days till SAFF!. I'll be meeting up with some good friends there! Plus quite a few from blogland I hope to see!

Socktoberfest in progress Socktoberfest knee highs, sock 1..um..yeah..knee highs done by the end of October...nope..gonna be Octonovember knee highs..yeah! So close to the heel turn..I want to do it in black, can't decide yet on a heel. Do I do a reverse heel flap or the nefarious short row heel...oh yes...I can wait til this weekend for my personal lesson from the girls I'll be with, they are much better experienced at these than me.

Strictly come purse knitting This one is Strictly Come Purse Knitting! It resides in the purse for those waiting in line moments..used it yesterday while registering both cars..soon it'll be heel time. Yeah, I'm a dance show wannabe!

Mystery Pal Sock Ala mystery sock! Pattern and yarn..my secret! You'll find out next week haha!

The final submission Everyday Cardi, blocked into submission oops I mean shape! Just have buttons to sew on then maybe a posing shot before I go! Hoping everytime it is washed I won't have to do this..but might. More on the final FO post.

Well, the sewing is going good as you can tell from my lackage of being here! Still not as fast as I'd like, but depending on what is left after this weekend, you may finally see what a lot of peeps have been waiting for!

YPF-Seriously?

Hehehe! Um...yeah...Seriously? ;)

Seriously?

Seriously?

Seriously?
Syncopation Self-striping Sock Yarn
100% superwash Merino - 3 ply
about 420 yds

The description from sKNITches: blue scrubs, lab coat, Meredith's grey, anatomy red. And so me!! My scrubs at work are the blue color. I do wear a denim coat though, you know I love red..and well, I can't wait to knit them...I have to be patient HA! Pun intended! Now to find a new pair of work clogs/crocs to um..er..match them. I'm thinking red or gray. NO way will I get white or the blue..hmmmm

Must go, certain projects calling my name, EDC- ;) button bands coming, Super secret socks, Public socks, and sewing...ah the sewing...the reason you won't see me around much in the next week or so before SAFF! Gotta earn some fiber money! But I couldn't miss YPF! I'll pop in and visit, try not to miss me too much! :)

A HatFO

Yep, I promised an FO was coming!

Earflap hat
twilight picture ETA a better light picture! :)
Earflap Hat from KnitSimple Fall 07
Brown Sheep Burly Spun in Strawberry Patch
US 15 Denise and clover circs.
I ended up using the 2 circ method for finishing because the only US 15 dpn's I could find were $15..um..not!
Less than 1 skein used. For the straps, I cut 3 lengths of yarn for each, folded in half and attached like a tassel to the end of the earflap. Then I braided all 6 together. I like it much better. (still so hard to take red pictures! gah!) Plenty leftover for a scarf which I'll whip up next week before SAFF...so iffin it's cold there, I'll be wearing this and my EDCardi...which has 1 sleeve successfully on!

'MeHere's me and my knitting pal the other Christine! She just started her own blog! We have a good laugh together..and um..er..a bit of my sock yarn love has rubbed off on her! Yikes. I call her the other Christine as I don't want to confuse her with other Christine who I'd love to have join in with us...then we'd all be confused..I am now..are you ;)

Well off to sew...not as a productive weekend as I wanted...sigh..never seems to be, but all are happy and well fed around here so I can't complain.

YPF-Finally Fall Edition

It's here, it's finally here...well for a few days I think! Colder weather! Sweater, sweatshirt, long pants and almost a hat kind of weather. Well for this morning anyways! ;)

Here today is
Jack
by Spunky Eclectic
Tough Socks in the Jack Colorway
Spunky Eclectic
Someone mentioned last week I didn't have any yellow....well I planned this yarn for this week anyways....and it has a bit of golden color in it!
Spunky Eclectic
Along with 2 other colors I like a lot...black and greens!

BTW! Since *cough* smart alec me thought sleeves in the round would be easier..well yeah they were, but um..my sweater doesn't have distinct armhole shaping so therefore I cannot seam the sides without worrying how much to seam. So, sleeves go in first! Yikes...I just hope they go in or I'm gonna have a vest! More on that later!!

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Hi!

Yeah, so I'm a few hours shy of Wednesday on the East Coast..oh well...I have a good excuse!! Um..worked late, ripped out shoulder of EDCardi 3 times...I just didn't like it, but now..it's done..well the shoulders are and it's going to have to be ok.. Darn it, I meant not to bind off so I could do a 3-needle bind off..well better luck next time!

shoulders seamed
Side seams tomorrow. Hey all you experienced sweater knitters out there! Can I do the button band and neck before I put the sleeves on? I mean they are no where near the neck edge, besides it would be less to heft around.

Next up are my Socktoberfest socks in the Socktoberfest Colorway I got last year from Scout's Swag . I also ordered a small skein of black to use for contrast parts of my socks...stay tuned to see just how high they go! ;)
Socktoberfest socks

Well, that's it...I gotta an FO, gotta wait until Friday for pics! Secret knitting going on too! hmmm wonder what it could be???

Which way do I go!!

Yeah, that's about how I'm feeling...I want to knit and sew, sew and knit...so I do both, each getting some action.

Blocking EDCardi As you can see, gratuitous blocking shot. Took 2 1/2 days to dry due to the humidity here!

pile o'stockinette Ahh! Pile o'stockinette awaiting to be seamed!! This is more of the true color!

Good to be home! But now, look at who's home...and wanting some attention. Geesh, there is only so much of me to go around...heh!! Fabric ready to go all around. 2 pairs of pants to be hemmed...hey, who told my MIL my machine was back huh!! (just kidding, it was just very coincidental she called to ask me to hem them the day I got my machine back! ;)

Well off to knit a bit before I go to bed!! More later...

Blogstalker 2, Week 3-How I get around

How I'd love to get around is public transport, then I could knit...but, oh well!
001 I just love my Escape...I can escape almost anywhere!! It is a hybrid as hubby wanted. Before you ask, no I don't plug it in..I get those jokes all the time. That or I have to stick my feet out to get a running start like Fred Flintstone! It runs on gas and is OK on gas. You see, it's not a small vehicle so it doesn't get like 50-60 mpg like other smaller hybrids do. It gets 28-30 mpg city driving, which is 99% of my driving. It gets less when I have to use the air conditioner, which, I am STILL using and will continue all this coming week....Rain, where art thou!! Fall, where art thou? It is so quiet too. Freaks people out when I'm tooling around the parking lots.

002 My favorite color....well I like almost all, but Red is my favoritest!

Inside my car! A view inside, now that my daughter can sit in the front (which she loves) I have to put all my junk in the back...sigh.. Oh, what's that hanging thing you ask..

Lucky Yarn Ball Yarn Balls, by Bezzie or as my daugher likes to call them, my secret weapons should I need to poke someone's eyes out!!

I've been up since 6 am, making breakfast for my son before he takes his SAT's. Wish him luck to get about 30 more points on his math score. He also has an interview for NROTC this week, and we pick up his proofs for his senior pictures. Whew, he's got quite the calendar this year with college visits (I'm going to Maine in early December for a visit to Maine Maritime..fingers crossed he gets that acceptance, it's his first choice!) (ahh...doughnuts, MacIntosh apples, potatoes, Humpty Dumpty Potatoe chips, lobster...ooops..sorry, got off track!) He's applied here in state too! His sister is hoping he goes out of state so she can have his room. As for me..um..er..is it bad to want his room for your fiber room? ;)

Ok, enough, I promise not to bore you all with the details....but just remember come this spring if I'm not a chatty Cathy, or sniff..um..not blogging much.. you'll know why!

And I'm off for now!!! Off where you ask besides my rocker?????

MY SEWING MACHINE IS READY!!!! ONLY 2 MORE HOURS UNTIL THE STORE OPENS!!! The other reason I'm up so early LOL! Plotting, planning, how to sew and knit this weekend!!

YPF-The Tilted Edition

Tilted as this week's Pr0n is the yarn I purchased for the Tilted Duster . I didn't have enough yardage in the stash Peace Fleece or Lamb's Pride. So I splurged with some destash dollars and got this at WEBS, which was discountable, so I saved about $1.50 per skein.

Berroco Peruvia
Berroco Peruvia in Azul. This is so similar to Lamb's Pride Bulky too, ahhh! I hear it sheds like crazy, but I'm used to it as LP does too!

Berroco Peruvia

Berroco Peruvia

In a nervous panic after reading about someone making a small with 6 skeins, I called WEBS to search for my dyelot for 2 more safety skeins. That's exactly what they had left in that dyelot (well, I would have taken the other one!) and promptly shipped it to me.

Cast on date...um..when Everyday Cardi is finished...I'm not allowed to even swatch! I'm off today, so the cardi is getting a bath and a sleeve is getting finished. Hey, I can swatch while it's drying right..not like I can do anything with the cardi while it's drying...right... ;)

Still Wednesday!

Still Wip'ing away!

Sleeve Island! I am using a different increase method this time, a M1R and M1L, thanks everyone for your advice. I do like it better, no holes..well I did have 1 and promptly frogged it away. Hoping to finish sleeve 2 this week, block and seam all parts this weekend would be wonderful, then only the button band and neck to do! Still have 22 1/2 more days so I should be good...but I'm not waiting until the last minute.
Sleeve Island

I found a use for my Burly Spun I got in Seattle! A friend and I are making one (well she's finished hers, heh! and I'll post a picture of us both when we're done)
Hat on the cover See, I need this hat as it matches my sweater perfectly and I will have enough for one heck of a bulky scarf! You'll see a few more of these!
Hope they don't sit in the closet though..sigh still hot as heck round here!

Wonder what's inside?? Hey Cpurl! Heh!! This one's for you!!
(what goes around, comes around! ;)

I still have another 2 socks to cast on in the next day or so! Week 4 of the sewing machine saga--and talked with a coworker who knew of a person who waited 3....months...gah!! (she works there and still doesn't get hers done any quicker either!) Long weekend this weekend...yard work if cool outside..what a mess out there!

Socktoberfest 2007

Yes, another year of Socktoberfest. My goals this year are to knit 3 pairs this month. Yep, and finish a sweater...I can do it!! Two yarns are wound up and ready to go, 1 about to be. Two pairs are simple stockinette, mindless anywhere knitting, and 1 is lacey. Two pairs of them I will post about, 1 of them I will not...not until they are totally done and gifted. 1 pair of them is for Maggie .

(warning, picture heavy post! Trying to show the intensity of this yarn!) :)

Late last nite, just in the nick of time to count for September socks for SAM 4
September Socks

Garter Rib Socks Afternoon shot, sorry for the blasting white legs...tried to edit them out!
Garter Rib Socks Hehe..I call this the almost ballet pose!
Garter Rib Socks doo-doo-doo, just walking along pose ....
Garter Rib Socks Ha! Hoping you can see the colors in this yarn. It is amazing the intensity of the green and red/burgundy.

Garter Rib Socks from Sensational Knitted Socks
Wollmeise Sockenwolle (psst..this is her website that is now open!!) (don't worry, I won't be there) ;) Must behave for SAFF at the end of this month!
Rhabarber Colorway- Dark Intensity
Way less than 1 skein, I still had 2.5 oz leftover
US 1 circ, magic loop
Knit cuff down

I'm getting better at picking up the stitches at the garter edge gussets. I do not like how the pattern has you take a stitch and switch them before you start the heel flap, says it's to center the pattern. Well I did it on the first sock, and I didn't like it, interefered with the flow of the garter part of the rib. So on the 2nd sock I didn't switch stitches and I can't tell a difference.

The yarn makes a lovely fabric and since it's still in the high 80's here :( my feet were sweating!
