YPF-the Mocking Edition

Yeah, it was mocking me. Every where I went in the Arena, that one colorway could be seen from quite a few vantage points. It called to me....I resisted...I walked by that booth at least 4 times...I went to the 2nd level, tried to ignore it, looked down to find someone and there it was, hanging there, just mocking me!

I lasted about 3 hrs...if that!

Although this isn't the best picture, it is the only one out of like 20 that showed the true darkness of the green.

Which BTW, matches pretty good with last week's YPF!

Have a great weekend everyone!

WIPFO Wednesday

I gotta a WIP and a FO to show you! Thus the title...heh, witty today aren't I? Not!

Socks for Maggie
014
These are the Swirl Socks in DK superwash sock yarn from Twisted in the Netherfield colorway. This yarn is unbelievably soft!! More on this later with the FO post. I love DK weight...verrry fast! (well I'd be done this sock, but we won't go there....yet!)

Le' Lobstah Scarf
Z'Lobster Scarf
Rowan Scottish Chunky Tweed
Lobster Colorway-1 ball
US 13 KP Options w/40" cable
Cast on 100 or so stitches or until you get sick of casting on. Knit every row until you almost run out of yarn and pray you have enough to bind off. In this case, I used the leftovers from Zeebee hat to finish the bind off. Perfect size for me, about 50" long and 4" wide.

Z'Lobster Modeled by my daughter, geesh that hat looks better on her than me, but she's not getting it!

Cyber Monday

Heh, who knew I'd update the shop on this busy internet day. I'm trying to post them as soon as I finish! I'll try to update as much as possible until Dec. 5th. Stay tuned for Amy Butler fabrics, geometrical...you know..weird shapes, a certain furry animal, etc. I'm sewing as fast as I can!

Knitting too, should have some good WIP's and an FO or 2 to show on Wed.

ps...I promise not to pimp inform you every time I update, I just know a lot of people have been wanting some and patiently waiting....

birds......doesn't anyone like birds..... ;)

Now what are the odds....

the chance, the once in a million, lifetime, etc. that the moment you are missing the socks you knit for your pal, sniff... you know suffering separation anxiety when you see them on her feet...

You open the box that the PO wanted to keep for itself and see these!!!
Just fabulous!
Ahhhhh...for a minute, I thought she sent the ones I knit her back to me! But nope! They are my very own pair in Fleece Artist 100% superwash merino in Ruby Red, my birthstone colorway! Sigh....I love them, they are perfect and fit perfectly and now I don't have to knit my own Embossed Leaves!!! Yay!

My Embossed Leaves This picture does show the colorway better I think. I quit after 20+ pictures to get the right color. You know how temperamental reds can be!

Sock Pal package! Here they are posing with the other goodies! I love my bag too! Just what I needed, another one, (you all know I hate sewing for myself LOL!) and some Jelly Belly's, cool stitchmarkers and yarrrrn! Ahh!

Thanks for a great sock swap!! Sorry the PO gave you a fright by not giving me my darned package last nite!

I can finally show these!

A few of you have already seen them in progress, but I have to brag on them. They are my first lacy type socks (well what I call lacey) and a challenge to knit for me. Challenging in the point of paying attention. Knitting usually relaxes me soooo much, well, I loose my place, stitches fall off, you get the picture.

Cpurl was the lucky receipient of these socks! Check out her post...sigh...glad these were a good ending to a very long day for her.

Embossed Leaves
Embossed Leaves from the Favorite Socks Book
Wollmeise 100% superwash sock yarn
Wilder Mohn Colorway (hehe..this name, it just cracks me up...yo' wilder mohn!) ok, well I think it's funny!

Close up on pattern again
Well, she likes red and pink so I thought this colorway would be good!! I sent her a mini skein for repairs and still have plenty to make a short pair for me...maybe mini-ones like hers, one day.

I have to confess, I don't really care for garter edged heel flaps. They are no fun to pick up stitches, but I am getting better at it. Mine she knit for me are here in town...somewhere! Just hoping within a few hours they are in my hot little hands! Stay tuned for an update!

YPF-The Toasty Toes Edition

Hey for all you Black Friday shoppers out there, hope you have/had fun! I used to get up and do that...no urge to do so any longer though.

I tried, tried really hard not to return to Interlacements booth.....
Interlacements Toasty Toes
Those friends of mine, they let me go off alone....I had no willpower!

You see the green in here! That is the colorway that started this quest. Stay tuned next week to see what caused the purchase of this!

WIP Wednesday!

Finally, something worth showing...well there is something else to show, but maybe by Friday or Saturday I can finally post them! ;)

Ice Cream Socks
Ice Cream Socks in Vesper Neopolitan, they are my in the car socks. Good for stop lights, long lines of waiting with excitement to get into work (100% ID checks!), Doctor's offices, post office oh nix that, I use my computer or the kiosk that does it, when at all possible! The one I go to is friendly, but heck, why wait when you don't have to ;)

Ice Cream Socks
Yo! Cristi, check out that Short row heel ala' Cat Bordhi! It was a lot easier that that pesky YO short row heel. Now to work on that hole from starting the leg. I can fix it no problem on heel flap socks. Any hints on SRH socks anyone?

Wildly Unoriginal Hat
Unoriginal Hat in 100% purewool of unknown colorway double stranded for added bulkiness. Knitted on the correct sized needles now! It would have been done...but oh no, obviously I cannot tell a US 8 from an 8 mm needle...gah!

Given to me in a box of leftover yarns without a home. Wild colorway for Maggie whose socks will be started today and worked on this week too! DK weight...ahhhhhh! A nice break from fingering weight socks. I hear tell she loves wild colors! I'll be starting mine...soon!

Scottish Tweed Scarf
Le' Lobstah Scarf. Knit lengthwise (my favorite!) Who the heck knows or cares how many stitches...well, I will if I run out of yarn at the cast off ;)!

Well that's all I confess to this week! Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it! I'll be cooking the side dishes, hoping the pager doesn't go off, eating a lot, and knitting and sewing (check this weekend) like crazy! Bye! :)

Monday blahs!

Well here's my Bradford Pear, that has never been this color before! I planted that, and it still lives a few years later!!

Fall

I was outside taking pictures of a certain someone's socks today while the sun was out. (sorry gotta wait til she gets them!)

Yeah, I got called into work this past weekend and it kind of set back all the knitting and sewing I planned. I went home early from work today, felt a bit under the weather. I'm feeling better now as I post this, but probably going back to bed for a bit. Later....

YPF-SAFF Booty Part Deux

This was so soft and all of us wanted to take bins full home...sadly we could not!

Stained glass colorway

100% Texas Wool Yarn
Lots of colors in there!

What to knit...was thinking wrist/armwarmer...not socks as it is 100% pure wool. Plus too pretty to hide on my feet!

Have a great day and weekend!!

It's Wednesday and....

I've not got a WIP to show you...well, the only one I am working on, I can't show you, and as for the others...well, they haven't budged an inch, and you just saw the Zeebee the other day.

It's been these socks (aren't they purty? hehe) The second sock is like being a total twit at times. I mean sock 1 behaved and all the stitches went where they were supposed to go without being told! What's up with that??? huh! No, sock 2 wants to tell ME where the stitches go..
Well I am perservering and you'll be able to see the finished product soon..
Cpurl's Socks
Ok, I lied, you can't see them until my uberpatient Pal gets them. **heh, some of you have seen these in action..shhhh, I know where you live if you spill the beans..well kind of ;) You have been warned!**

It's been a whirlwind of sewing. 8 cases done, some were special orders and the rest went to the shop. I gave myself a day off from sewing. I needed it!

So instead you get arty farty pictures.

This is from a booth at SAFF. Our first house (and one day our last house we own) was a log cabin. Since then, we often get art/knicknacks, etc. with a log cabin on it to kind of remind us of the past and what we are looking forward to in the future...aka. retirement.

"It's That Time Again"

It has the cabin, Santa (which I like to collect pictures, figurines, etc.) and sheep. Some of my favorite things.

Sheepy note cards

They had cute cards too. The artist is Joan Arnold, OWS. Not sure if it was her at the booth or not.

And finally from my resident Arteest! Batty should like this one!

My resident Arteest
The magnet on the lower right was sent home as a fund raiser for the school. After looking at all that could be made with the artwork, we both decided on fabric/quilt square. Cheap, still earned money for the school, and we could decide what to do. Pillow for her, probably a real quilt square for me.

She's quite the arteest, my son pays her to do his school artwork/posters, etc. She's even won a few prizes. Guess crafty/artyness only runs in the females of my family ;)

Z's Zeebee

When you need a break from tiny needles, what do you do??

Zeebee Hat
Z's Zeebee

Use size 11 needles! I had this all finished except for the garter stitch grafting. Which, call me weird, but I don't mind grafting. (no throwing of objects or words now!) It was the first time I've ever done garter stitch grafting and it was ok. Saved again by my Knitter's Companion book, the step by step photos made is super easy.

Once you measure yourself or other victim to receive hat, just plug in the numbers and print your copy of the pattern. Just remember....it tells you just how many short rows you should have, plus the CS stitch.

I used Rowan Scottish Tweed Chunky in the Lobster Colorway. Another color view here which shows it's true darker color.

109 yards and 3 sts to the inch, which I got when I swatched. (hat pattern suggests, heck you really need to swatch to do the calculations for the pattern). I used up all but about 1-2 yards. Now I did frog the swatch and then start the hat. If I hadn't I would have had to break into the second skein.

Hehe...loving the lobster colorway, wonder why? Luckily I have 1 more skein of this which will be cast on size 13 needles for a garter stitch lengthwise scarf. Stayed tuned for that and more sockage knitting!

Oh and there are a few Needle cases available FYI! ;)

YPF-SAFF Booty

Brooks Farm Four Play
Brooks Farm Yarn Four Play
50% wool/50% Silk
270 yds.

I got 4 skeins to possibly finally make one of these! So soft and squishy, it was hard to choose a colorway. Of course the sample Clapotis yarn wasn't there, sigh...so this had to do. No idea on the colorway...no name on the tag.

Brooks Farm Four Play

Brooks Farm Four Play

Brooks Farm Four Play

I tried both inside and outside lighting. These are the best from both. I like the neutral shades and it will go with a lot of my clothes. Hmmm guess I know what will be good long car ride (12hrs each day) knitting huh?

I'll be sewing a lot this 3 day weekend. I should have a needlecase update Sunday or Monday!

WIP Wednesday

This weeks WIP's!!

Z's Zeebee
Zeebee hat 2/3rds done. Would have been totally done, but the pattern wasn't clear enough for ME (I have to have things totally spelled out for me, duh!) so according to my measurements I needed 7 short row wraps...I had all the repeats done and it wasn't looking very good, frog back to beginning. Then I progress to the last repeat section and I see a purl where a knit should have been, on the edge, so type A me...had to frog a few more rows back (only 4) and drop the stitch to fix it. I'm not the greatest garter stitch frogger. Good knitting on size 13's for me, a break from those pesky 1's and 2's for socks! Should be done soon!

Karen's Sugar Free Socks My oldest sock WIP, Karen's Sugar Free Socks. I had started these last year 2 at a time on 2 circs. Well, separated due to severe tangling and the fact I didn't wind the buns of Cascade 220 superwash. Plus I may have removed a few needles for other projects. ;) Tried to finish as they are worsted for the sock a month KAL, but nope..at the heel flap of sock 1.

Baby Socks So I whipped these little suckers out instead! Once the above socks are done, onto a matching hat.

Socktoberfest Knee Highs Socktoberfest knee-highs at the heel flap. Sadly not touched since SAFF.

Cpurl's Socks Why...I've been trying to finish these! Cpurl's socks in a bag made by Sgeddes's Mom! It is a cool bag and no fun to make. I do not even try to make many of these, they are a pain to sew. Sew it was fun to receive one! Thanks again!

Yikes...Cpurl is done with mine.... and she strategically hid it from me again...heh..just wait til she gets hers...hmmm *rubs hands together to plot!*

Ooops! I gotta leave for work! bye!

1 week later....

And I finally have some SAFF pics for you! I know you all have seen pics of me around this week, spinning. Heh, no spinning wheel yet and I have yet to show you pics of my Yarn...patience..when I get good light I will ;)

Mean Girl and Knitting Betty
Knitting Betty and Jen, who is the co-creator of my needle cases, or should I say the person behind the start of them. Which BTW, thanks again my peeps out there for buying them, encouraging me to mass produce them, and just being cool about them!

Illiane Spinning away! Here's Illiane with her mad spinning skills. This girl is a riot and a must have at all parties, knit a longs, etc.!

004 My attempt at long-arm photography..heh..

Our socks meet and hang out together
Mine and Jen's socks chilling together!!

Kemtee and Trillian42
Kemtee and Pam knitting away. Pam's knitting on her shawl of 3,000 plus stitches..she knits and crochets a mean shawl...almost makes me want to knit one...almost!

Bee Lunch
The Bee Lunch, yeah they were all over our food! Luckily no one got stung. But we had fun chatting and knitting a bit. (far L-Illiane, Pam, Shannon, Aimee, and YoYoKnits and her hubby across from her.) (geesh, the only picture I have of you Shannon, sorry!)

Friends
Donna's friend (sorry didn't get her name), Donna, and Cristi, oh and Paulie Walnuts, my new friend. Tried to sneak him away from Cristi...sigh..but failed.

Oh, and in case the whole blogisphere didn't know it by now, Cristi got some Wendy autographed patterns from Aimee's contest.
Cristi's Got some Wendy
As for those pictures of our haul, you'll see mine on upcoming YPF's, I only have the lower right corner...not too bad, I did behave a bit and 2 skeins are on their way across the atlantic as we speak.
