YPF-The Not Mine Edition!

That's right, this yarn is only visiting me. It's for the SAM 5 January prize drawing. See, there are some perks to being the hostess, even if it is only yarnsitting for a little while! ;)

Wednesday Already!!!

Yikes! Well, when you only work a couple a days last week, have 4 days off and not on call...well I do get confused. Not a heck of a lot to show you though.

Vesper Ice Cream sock is making progress, 6 color repeats since last time.
A little more progress
This is my sock knitting in the car sock,(not while driving ;) so it may be awhile..however, I'd like to finish before the end of SAM5, since they are featured there.

Back is progressing
Tilted Duster back..geesh, was hoping to show you blocking pieces of the top, but messed up the armhole decreases and lost about 4 rows. That and my energy isn't back up to speed yet..oh and a certain hat demanded to be finished....the other knits, sadly no progress since last week.

Well, bfn!

Si' Capitan

Si' Capitan
Pattern by Rosi-G
1 100g skein of Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande from my Seattle trip.
US 10 Circ and dpns
Started January 14
Finished January 20

Yeah, a week for a chunky hat, but oh well! It's a fun, easy pattern to do! Doesn't look too bad on me either, I don't think!
Si' Capitan
But I hate FO pics lately! I just can't do them, and my lovely assistant tries, but my camera hates me!

Another view
A view to see the cables better! No cable needle used here, which sometimes with chunky yarn I have to.
LeftoversPerfect use of a skein from the stash! I've seen a few around with other chunky yarns..hmmm might have to do another one!

YPF-Sock Pal Yummee Version

Cpurl17 included this yarn in our sock swap and I've be trying to pick a nice day outside to photograph it. Well, finally, under the influence of cold meds...I got some! Geesh!

Yummee Yarn in the exclusive Knit this, Purl That colorway, which I think is one of her LYS's.

Wednesday WIP

Not too much progress to show as I focused what little time I wasn't sewing this past week on my socks. Oh and that darned crud that kept me in bed for close to 2 days..I didn't even have energy to knit..oh well, a little better now and off to work, at least I won't infect everyone now! ;)

Tilted duster- both fronts done and they match..well as much as one that is a specific right and left side do. I've started the back and only have about 1" in. I admit, I see this and I'm a teensy bit worried, but will go on a bit more before I wrap around my back to see if it's too big..imagine that, it being too big!
Tilted Duster

Lucky 7-The Tweedy Version
Weezalana's Cool cabled hat. I am using Paton's Classic Merino Tweeds. Um..yeah, it got pushed aside too due to those darned socks...

When I saw this hat on Rosi-G's blog on Sunday I wanted to cast on right away...but I made myself finish those darned socks! Gah...then...well you know what happened. One good think about bulky yarn, it goes a lot faster!
Capitan Hat
Cristi finished hers in a few hours..me, it'll take a few more days at this rate. I still need to find some buttons too!

So all I'm admitting to this week is 2 hats and my TD! Yeah..that's all I can handle right now! ;)

Is 11 months too long???

To finish a pair of socks?

I think it is, and can't really tell you why....other than they did start out as 2 socks on 2 circs. That tangling of the yarn and the fact I didn't rewind the pouf of yarn either added to the madness. Then it got too hot around here, and well...they sat and patiently waited their turn.

Sugar-Free Socks
Karen's S-F Socks
Cascade 220 Superwash
US 3, Inox for 2 at a time,
Finished with Addi's as Magic Loop separately.

Mods: I only knit 2 of the 3 cabled pattern repeats. Also did not continue cabling on the foot portion. I felt that as worsted socks, the ribbed and cabled portions would be too much for me.

This was my first time cabling socks without a needle. Man..knitting worsted on US 3's and trying to cable without a needle was a bit of a challenge.

Close up
Sigh...1 less WIP now!! Do you know how hard it is to photograph red!!! Geesh, I took about 40 pictures...these are the best I had!

Well, the was the extent of my strength today. Weather changes here from 60-70 degrees down to 50's or lower. Which results in a chest cold for me...sigh..off to cough and knit in peace.

They have a lot of gorgeous colorways. The yarns are hard to find now as they have been closed since September. I may knit socks or a hat from this. It is so soft, that they probably will be socks, I'll get more use out of them!

Remember what I hinted about...

You know a major RIP of a WIP.... well here is a teaser to show you first!

Mini Clapotis
Silk Garden Mini Clapotis Scarf in progress since October 2006
Frogged it!!
Go me! Well as you can see, I dislike knitting scarves back/forth, so it sat there, and sat there, and even missed last year's FROGGING event. Well I had had enough! See the needles and stitchmarkers that are now free, and happy to be too, they told me! ;) I now have 4 skeins of this colorway free to be whatever they want to be.

And this....Scoop du Jour On the needles since..
Scoop Du Jour
August, 2005, **so embarassed here!** (I christened my first pair of Addi turbo's on this sweater.) Well I was all set to frog it, I mean really I was! I "knew" it was started in a size I'd never be able to wear again I doubt! Little did I know when I pulled it out of the dungeon, I was knitting the largest size and it is the same size I'm knitting the Tilted Duster, so...guess I gotcha all fired up to see something major..sorry! Now I know one is wool and one is a cotton blend, one will stretch and one won't but, I do have plans on removing some extra baggage around the old middle, so I think it'll work it in the end!

Time will tell, but I do plan on having this done in the next few months!! 1 front is all done, so all I need to do are sleeves and finish the other front. I even have the buttons! It is cotton ease, so I can't knit on it for long periods of time.

Whew! What a short weekend! I've been spoiled by 2 four day weekends! Well the sewing machine and other needles are calling me!! Hoping to have a shop update by the weekend!

YPF-the Next to the Last Edition...

of the Sundara Petals Collection . This was a great sock club and sadly it is discontinued. Her new club has yarn weights I won't knit with, (starts with L and ends in ace) and well, I'm tightening the belt quite a bit this year due to almost-college-boy-bills, so not an option for me.

Whew, all I can say is good thing for saved pr0n! A certain KAL that is now full has kept me busy. :)

Wip's

Well, it's still Wednesday in blogger land, a bit later here...oh well!!

See, I'm getting there on my socks- 1 done and 1 cuff almost done

Oldest sock WIP

Left boob swatch for the Tilted Duster, which is really written in the pattern as the right! Sooo confusing! I won't tell you how long I spent researching it. Let alone knit it! It was frogged a bit (heh, that's an understatement!) I swear I can't pay attention to a pattern lately!!
Left boob swatch
What I am most proud of is the neckline (your right) I learned to do sloping bind offs...I love it!

FYI- Yarn is Berroco Peruvia in Azul. This yarn doesn't like to be frogged...hope it doesn't happen too much! First one gauge was off, this one, I think is going to be perfect. Down 2 needle sizes though!

This is just a swatch, I needed the size 9 needles I had started this swatch on, so I finished and it is spot on! :) whew!
Chunky Swatch
It's for the Big Ball Chunky Sweater from Spunky Eclectic in the Dogwood colorway, that's next up after TD..

Up this week...a major RIP project...yep, at least 2 I can think of, stay tuned! ;)

Fleecin' along

Well I spent part of the day yesterday and this morning, getting to know my serger again. Since the knitting bug bit about 2 yrs ago, it's been used maybe 2 or 3 times since then. I do not use it for my needlecases, impossible to do that. So here's some things you can do with fleece--polar, northern, whatever brand you have!

I tried to use some sock yarn (see the neon green in the background) but my serger was not liking it one bit, almost broke something too. So off went the sock yarn (yes it was fingering weight) I was trying to use the sock yarn as the edging of the cuddlewrap. (see blanket below for idea)

Attempting
All threaded and ready to go, but it didn't want to!

Serging in Progress
Change to regular serger thread and here we go!

This is a Cuddlewrap, when open kind of looks star-shaped. These are great for newborn/infant babies and work perfectly in a car seat. Well, so I am told on good authority, as they didn't have the pattern when mine were little. The pattern price is a bit steep, but you do get 2 sizes and I've made at least 10 or more over the years as gifts, you can't sell them due to copyright, which is fine, I don't need to stock more fabric in the house, hubby will leave LOL!

Cuddlewrap Open

Ahh, I'm warm now!
How to use it!
The only doll in the house modelling it's use. The top is a hat and the sides wrap around.
Cuddlewraps
3 done and ready to go to their owners. On the right are 3 little blankies. I use whatever leftovers there are and just serge the edges and voila, a tiny car blankie or whatever blankie.

I finished with a blankie for Penguin crazy DD. I finished it when she was sleeping and just put it on her, so she'd see it when she woke up.
Penguin Crazy
Well, done serging for the week, next week, pj pants for DD.

Now to work on needlecases and my knitting, what am I knitting now...stay tuned tomorrow and see!
