New Etsy finds and other random stuff

First up, a new sock/small project bag from Acornbud . I got to see one of her bags up close, and personal ;) and wanted my own, and no, I didn't want to sew it!

Sock/small project bagSock/small Project bag
I love it because it is round (think oatmeal box shape) and the base has a cd in it to keep it totally upright...ooohh and Amy Butler Fabric, instant love.

Next up are new scrub caps for work!

This one Cherry Wallpaper by you know who ;) has a small pouch in the back for ponytails. Yes, I am growing my hair again...well for a minute anyways. You'll see some things for me in this print soon...

And another cause you know a girl has to change her look some days! Plus, I'm getting a new, cool, lead apron at work so I needed new hats!

Gothic Rose....by you know who again ;) Both from The Hat Cottage.
I'm really happy with all 3 products, all were very well sewn :) (you know I'd be checking this out right ;)

If the top 3 items weren't enough to get on Saturday, I received this as well!
Knitterly Things
Chevron Love Mittens
Yes, I am going to attempt these, love the colors in here. (I also love my new seat cushions for the porch too, now if the pollen would go away, I could enjoy them!)

Here is an update on the FLS...
As of 3/28/09
No, your eyes are not playing tricks. You are looking at cast on and 3 rows. I was about to try it on to see when I could start the lace and yeah..damn raglan increases, all 4 were off a few stitches (do not ask how that happened I have no clue!) I frogged back and tried to fix (3 times) and no luck. Then for the heck of it...I re-measured the gauge again....um..well now going to be knit on US 8's. Should go quicker now, it won't sit for a long time.

Do you think someone wants to go with me?? I just think the suitcase was in her "special" napping place is all!
Someone...
Lucky me gets to go to Wisconsin for training this week. Our new xray room is installed and we gotta learn how to use it. I looked at the weather...yahoo, my weather!! *cough* ahem...sweaters and long sleeves are packed, as well as a winter/rain coat, hat, cowls, etc.

Sorry Sapphire, you get to stay home and guard the house ;)

YPF-Dreaming of....

Maine Woods and Water
044

045
One day not a dream, but a reality....maybe...hopefully....soon....

046
The blue water and a bit of the evergreen resembles the trees. Hoping to turn it into a light cardigan, summer something for our vacation this year. Our first family vacation other than a few days ever I think! We can't wait. :)

Since we literally drive by the store (well we're on 295 and the store is a few blocks away) I'm hoping to entice hubby to stop by and explore the Old Port while I shop away. Maybe if I promise this is the only yarn stop...hmmm

Thank you to my Stitches West 09 personal shopper ;)

It all started with....

This fabulous Birthday Cowl knit by my co-SAM KAL hostess, and computer whiz (yes, you make the blog look good!) and friend Karen. I saw it on her blog and commented...well you know how I love red. Next thing I knew....

This is another hold up!
It was in my possession! I've been wearing it all winter long...so soft, snuggly and warm! Often didn't need a hat wearing it, and I did wear my Thorpe hat with it when I needed to.

When last we saw my Bounce Hat it was early October. It was set aside for other things and I guess I wasn't feeling the love of the colorway knitting it. So, once I found out the colorway used in my cowl above....I found a skein and let it marinade for a bit (you know for good flavor, texture....)
Top view
See the big squishy ribs!

Mug shot pose!
Mug shot pose! Cristi warned me it blocks big. I only needed to block it just a bit to make sure it was roomy enough.

Eye in the sky view!
Eye in the sky shot....hey not bad for one handed. My assistant had other plans and couldn't be interrupted..heh!
The..um..
Top of the Malabrigo to you! Wished I could have tightened the decreases, but oh well! It's so soft, squishy and comfy, I don't care!

Are you sick of the pictures yet? Thought not! Of course, it's too warm here now to wear it. I'll be in Wisconsin for next week, maybe I'll get a chance to wear it...if not always next year!
Malabrigo loveliness!
Meh..not too bad for a self portrait huh?

YPF-The Gilligan Version...

When I saw the name of this colorway and then the colors, it brought back some great memories...

Twisted Fiber Arts
Ok, aging myself now but do you remember Gilligan's Island? If you do, raise your hand...yeah..ok, 1, 2, 3....

Twisted Fiber Arts
It was my favorite show growing up. My grandmother and I would watch every episode we could together. We sat there glued to the tv and laughed our butts off....in my case literally hehehe...

Gilligan reminded me of myself as I'm quite the klutz, ditz, and you know the everyone can have a good laugh at/with/ I can guarantee, I fall off of chairs, stools, up and down stairs...flat, leveled surfaces...yeah tried to do that today. Sigh...
Twisted Fiber Arts
I remember seeing the lagoon shots (yeah I know, prolly some lake in California, but humor me ok!) and wished I had that to swim in everyday.

Random Thursday

Well, despite my not wanting to, Spring is springing in on us. Only a few pear blossoms left, geesh...they barely stayed a few days before the leaves formed.
Signs of Spring

Hmmm, I'm calling this a Hollyboxwoodforsythia bush.
A mixture
You see a few years ago, I planted a few sprigs of forsythia (yellow flowers) behind the hollybush. Now they are intermingled and give interesting colors.

A lone crocus
My lone crocus....where are your friends??

My new friends...ahhh is it wrong to love a pair of shoes sooo much??
My new Klogs!
Not only do they look fab and show off your socks....

in the wild shot
They are the most, most, most comfortable shoes I've ever put on. Pillows on the feet! I won't be wearing these at work, too many holes and too pretty. I am sooo getting a pair in another style for work. I stand on concrete based floors with heavy lead aprons and I have to constantly change shoes depending on the type of day I have...sure could have used them yesterday ;)
How on earth...
Hehe...I took this one myself..won't explain how though... Klogs showing off my socks!
ETA direct LINK ! Sorry, I guess no one can see my links, gonna have to change the colors :)

My most favorite part of this week....the Lady is outta hibernation!
February Lady Sweater
Not sure if I'll be adding 1 or 2 more buttons. Pardon the indoor lighting... I just love the black, raspberry and green in this colorway!

Button...
What do you think? I like them both....a lot...I've always wanted silver for this sweater....it's gonna be hard to choose.

Yarn Bowl
You likey my yarn bowl! I do too! You can get yours at Knit Witch. I got mine at SAFF and I love using it.

YPF-Are you at the right blog??

**blink**

*thoughts you must be thinking*
*is she sick, tired, crazy, or just blind (hey! I resemble some of those thoughts)
The Plucky Knitter
Who knew.... (raise your hands, yeah I know prolly all of you!)

It would eventually happen....
The Plucky Knitter
Was it the merino cashmere or has she gone color blind.....

The Plucky Knitter
This is almost mustardy golden...yeah thats it, she loves mustard, especially on hot dogs (with tons of onions..) Oh right, back to the yarn...

I feel a good cabley sock pattern would suit this yarn well...hm..ponders a top in that color, you know to match the socks..what's that...you don't match your socks to your top??

In this case,

Um...er...

Nah...I don't think so...not with my skin coloring, but hey, who cares about the feet! ;)

This is not...

a hold up I promise ;)

It was the best way to show off this pattern!
Oh Noes!!
Look into my eyes....I shall entrance you......

You know me and cowls lately...um...this is like #3 and I have one that was gifted to me that you'll see soon ;)
As you can see
This is the real color, even in daylight hard to photograph...

Woot an FO that hasn't been a WIP longer than 3 days!! It was sure nice to knit on size 8 needles after almost 2 weeks with size 1.5's!

Cross another one...

off the WIP list!

Presenting, better late than never....
Rockin' Cedar Creeks
Cedar Creek Socks
STR Lightweight in Gypsum
US 1.5 circulars, done magic loop
Started: April 4, 2008 -Sock 1 finished July 08
Finished: Sock 2--March 3, 2009

I started knitting them as part of a KAL.....but that KAL has been done for a while LOL..
The Eleventy-billion gusset
See here, eleventy-billion gusset stitches. You see the pattern has you pick up one stitch for every 2 rows on the heel flap. Well it was too holey for me and I didn't like it. Thus, I picked up every one...sigh..no wonder by the end my hands ached!!

Also note the eye of partridge heel. I think I knit sock 2's heel with too small of a needle...I still prefer good old slipped stitch heels though.
Close up of feet
Although knit almost 6 mos apart, they look pretty good. I love the colors together, not so much the pooling, but I can live with it :) I got the pattern when I was in the very first Rockin' Sock Club, it was the very first shipment. I was fairly new to sock knitting and was too scared to try it.

As you can see, not scared anymore!

Ta....Da.....

Picture heavy post here, oh and lots of blabbing enthusiam ;) Can ya blame me??

The weather cooperated...darling daughter could spare me a few moments of her "precious" time.

Presenting.....
Serious pose
Mr. Lipstickjeans **insert happy dance here**

So you can see how the colorway got it's name...er..no..yeah the Dream in Color girls thought that name up. It had me at...hello there you good looking red! I haven't met many reds I didn't like you know ;)
Hey!
Heh! (yes I know it's not "quite" red, but it was the closest color I owned)

Look away...look away..... give us your "model" pose...
Look away...look away

Ok..I'll share my only ugh...about it.
Ugh...
I think the front was unbuttoned. I feel like a linebacker when I look at this shot. Gah..my butt...where did it go??? (that's what 2 kids will do to ya ;)

Yeah...I likey, a lot!!
I like it, I really do....

Dream in Color Classy-Lipstick Lava Colorway, less than 4 skeins
Started: April 20, 2008
Finished: March 1, 2009
Knitpicks Harmony circulars in US 7 and 8, sleeves using magic loop

Mods: knit long sleeves and wider button band. I also didn't start the cable/rib section until well past the bustline. Yeah..I'm a person that doesn't like to draw attention there. The pattern was easy to adjust to this too.

I luff it! Soft, cozy, perfect everyday sweater! The sleeves are perfect, a teesny bit long, but since I needed to block it bigger (ahem..need to lose the pudge and it'll fit even better!)

The DIC yarn is nice to knit with and even softer upon washing/blocking. I'd definately use it again. The only thing to watch out for is that there is no dyelot. It is a handpainted yarn and there is a bit of difference. I looked closely and couldn't see any, but if you look closely at this you can see them. A lot of people knit this yarn with 2 alternating skeins...me..um..nah..not this sweater, I decided to say the heck with it! I'm 2 for 4 in the sweater department now! Woot!!

I started this for the DIC Loopy Groopies KAL in April. I was knitting along when....well when I found out I had breast cancer. I still kept knitting on it, and was in the middle of the chest section when I realized I better stop until I knew what was going to happen...so it rested...and rested...I had my surgeries and treatments and recovered and still it sat. I don't know why I didn't pick it right up...maybe all the holiday knitting....I'm thinking more of a sweater block..lost mojo...reminders...who knows! But after the first of the year I decided to finish it as I wanted to clear out the WIP basket crate and had more sweaters I wanted to knit.

Button, button, whose got a button??
The...button
Gosh, I started searching for the perfect button when the KAL started. I knew I didn't want a wooden, metal, or clay one. Just a plain old one like you see here. When Shannon and I went to SAFF I was on the hunt. I carried my SIP (psst..Sweater In Progress) with me to find the "perfect button" but I didn't find it there. On our way home, via my newfound phone surfing skillz we found Knit Picky in Winston-Salem. There I found exactly what I wanted. The nice salesperson even let me take the button outside to be introduced to my SIP. They fell in love, just like I did.....Something however, tried to keep them apart (buttonhole fiasco ) sigh...but...they were meant to be together!
Back button
A trick I learned somewhere...put another button on the back to help stablize it. Of course it had to be red! ;)

A little fun! Had to be a small picture as it's a bit blurry but I love it anyways!
A little fun!
If you've read this far....well goodonya!! Seriously though, thanks for indulging me, it's been a long road...
