Prickly Ribs

Well, after knitting a stockinette pair, and another patterned pair, I just felt the need for some ribbing.....

As the end of the month was getting nearer, I knew a quick pair was needed.
Prickly Ribs

With this pattern (see link below) it has you continue the rib down the heel flap.
Heel Pic!
Heel Pic! It was nice to knit a heel flap again. I still like knitting them.

I like how the exact center of the toes are different.

Prickly Ribs
Shades of green, brown, and cream, nice colors I say! Hardly any pooling except in the gusset area, which a lot of variegateds do.

US 2 (2.75mm) circs-2 circ method...darn where is my magic loop one..oh..right..car..door..must replace!
Started August 21-Finished August 31

The yarn is a teensy, weensy bit splitty, which really could be me. It's a heavy sport/light DK weight but I still needed size 2's to knit the socks. I really like the colors. It's pretty soft and I'm sure will be even softer after their bath. I have a few other skeins of this weight I've been lucky to get in destashes. I look forward to knitting with this yarn again!

I only got to knit 2 pairs for Summer of Socks 09, but that's ok. Onward to a certain Lady that has been waiting patiently in the wings, but has told me under no circumstances is another sweater to be started until "she" is done ;)

FF-The Cristi don't look version

Hehe..are these your colors or what? (heh, I knew you'd look!) Sorry, it's all mine ;)

Lucky me got another birthday prezzie from my knitting buddy Christine

Politically Incorrect
It is so unbelievably soft and pettable!

PC fiber
Pink, orange and bits of yellow..... I hope to spin this in a sock weight, so you may not see it again for a bit. I needs lots of practice in the thin spinning department.

Politically Incorrect
Did I mention it's soooo soft and I can't wait to spin it! I love it! Thank you again! :)

Another Fibery Friday

The fun part about getting into spinning is trying out different fibers.

Pansy Majestic
A lovely belated birthday fibery gift from Megan. My local spinning and fiber pusher!

017
Sooo soft and squooshy!

015
Light too!

Pansy Majestic
I divided them exactly into 1.80 oz each..no clue on how that worked so well!

BFL Pencil Roving

Not sure if I was supposed to separate the 2 strands of roving. I didn't and will see how it spins up.

I am getting better, this is my 3rd bobbin (shhh we don't count the practice fiber)
038
It's Falkland

Just to show you I'm improving...
040
Left bobbin is first, spun before vacation in June. Right bobbin finished this week. This roving came in 2 braids so it was easy to divide. I'll be plying it as soon as the Falkland above is done. (Soon Bezzie, Soon!)

I'm learning a lot from my friends, virtual and local, but I have tons more to learn!

Just keep knitting....

Yep, that's what I've been trying to do. On and off all weekend actually. Kept my mind busy, you know so I didn't think that a certain someone was leaving today to start his sophmore year of college...

In fact I went from this on Thursday evening....
Boheme Baby Sweater

To this as of Sunday evening.....still have to measure, but I may be done with it. Then just the picot binding.
Boheme Baby Sweater
Boheme baby sweater in Cotton Ease, and yes those are the new Zephyr tips. I really like them for knitting on cotton so far. I only ordered a few tips as I like my mishmashed set of interchangeables.
Cotty Sock
When I wasn't knitting on the sweater, I've been working on my Cotty socks gusset decreases, yeah, I had more done, but while I was getting a pedi on Friday...I forgot to do the decreases so a tinking had to be done...

Oh, my newest bag...
Chicken bag
Love it!!!

Look at the inside coordinating fabric too!

Bony Finger
Hehe..see it is a finger! Maybe it'll be mitts in another life...you know to go on my bony fingers!

...tap..tap...

Still here! Has anyone seen my charger for my Canon?? It's been MIA since we got home. I know I saw it once, maybe twice...can't find it now!

I think it's in that safe place, you know that place where the 2 other phone car chargers are at! 3 trips I've made in the last year, 1 to IKEA, 1 to SAFF, and now Maine...some phantom charger thief has absconded with them! I know I'll find the chargers as soon as I get a new phone later this month....hmmm.. (good thing I got a backup camera!)

What do pouring rains with roads that don't drain well give you? Well after a few spins (or as we call it up North, cutting cookies which is way more fun in the snow than in the rain!) and being gracefully stopped by a guardrail you get this.....

Saved by the guardrail
Phew! Son and I are fine, thankfully again one else was hit/hurt. He was like..um..er...cool mom, glad I wasn't driving ;) It's fixed now, however that little round thing in the right lower corner, my backupsensorsthatIsometimesstillhitthingswith, yeah that thing. Trying to get new ones replaced as when they replaced the bumper, they were unable to reattach them due to the wiring. Sooo now when I back up...the noise doesn't stop! My ears!!! Hoping they'll be fixed in the next day or so.

This one is on my insurance...can't wait for the guardrail bill either....not!

So, this is the last week my son is home! Oh..did I tell you??? NavyROTC scholarship!!! 3 yrs even! I know he's happy he won't be borrowing as much $$. He's been busy lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons these last 2 weeks. Shopping has been happening, in fact, food run is tonite. Gotta stock up for the trip back to school. The 3 James's leave Sunday for the trip back to Maine. (Hubby, son, FIL) I get to stay home and work move back into my craft room...sniff
Hoping he'll be home for Christmas, but not much next summer though...

Knitting and spinning going on...updates on that soon!

Oh, and I joined this!

drt2009
I've always wanted to try one, but the timeframe just didn't work out. Sign ups until Wed. the 12th FYI!

It's not my fault.....really ;)

Well, not really ;) I was totally only going to buy some batik fabric for a customer. Since knitting took over my life the quilting has taken a backseat. I still sew, but quilt, not much...hardly... I often go to the quilt store for supplies and notions. I'm usually very good and stay away from non-customer fabrics.

But this leetle pattern caught my eye...and of course the sample already sewn didn't help either!
Future mini quilt
Figgy Pudding so my colors....will look awesome hanging in my living room.

I caved...yep, but I was good and didn't buy the entire kit! My mini quilt will have 2 of the Courthouse steps (squares) and 2 of the tree blocks.
Figgy pudding fabrics for mini quilt
Ahhhhh love these colors! The bottom brown is enough to make a tote with, well after I have finished the quilt. Stay tuned.....I'll get my sewing room back in full force in a few weeks...sniff...

Luxury toes

I should call them vacation/emergency knitting socks though. I started them a few days before we left for vacation. Knit on them a bit on and off during the 2 weeks.

I was almost to the cuff before our extended vacation started. Glad I had them, especially during the first day or so, just plain knitting was soothing.

009
Started sock 2 on the day we got the van back and I admit, the foot is a bit tighter in tension due to our tenseness in getting back on the road. They fit fine and that's good.

A new technique for me.
007
Kitchner bind off and it is awesome! I saw Cristi using this technique and had no idea it existed.
I love it and it will always be my bind off for toe ups. If you already hate the dreaded K'stitch, don't bother, if you don't like it for less then 10 sts..um..you aren't going to like it for 60 or so!

Afterthought heel, my heel of choice from now on with self-striping. I was originally going to use a heel flap pattern, but I didn't like how the striping was coming out and yeah..I like things to match as much as possible.
006
An afterthought one is so much better. The yarn is soft and squooshy. My first Yarntini yarn I've knit with too. (must knit, not collect!)
