Long time no see...

A WIP post! Well the only WIP's I'll admit to or are currently being knit.. ;)

16 Cable Hat
16 Cable Hat in Plucky Knitter in Superwash merino worsted. Love the colorway, Charcoal and Cordial. Definately using a cable needle, even though I love cabling without one, but 8 stitches each time (total of 16 for the cable) ...um...no way!!

Almost...
Does this yarn look familiar? Well that got frogged due to fit issues. Currently becoming a Sockhead Hat almost done with the 4" of ribbing, then we have 5" of stockinette. Slow going on US 2's...but with this hot weather already, not like I'll be wearing it anytime soon.

Haven't seen this one in a while huh? Shawl that Jazz
My Shawl that Jazz is being knit on here and there, and so hoping to be done sometime in April...that is a goal. I won't allow myself to cast on any other shawls...so I gotta get going! (yes..I have quite the queue of shawls)

Something new!
Future summer cardi
When I saw Cristi's O-Wool cardi, I knew I had finally found a pattern I wanted to knit with my Noro Taiyo . I've collected a few skeins on sale and I hope to have enough. It's knitting up pretty well with my Zephyr's, cotton seems to go better on them. That's why I have different tips. I never bought the entire set at once, just got some tips here and there.

Whew...I have another cardi about to go on the needles, but that is a definate stay at home knit. Everything else is portable. Well gotta go...dinner and knitting is calling me!

I never learned this in Physics class??

String Theory which is the name of this colorway. My Physics consisted of Radiation things and I got lost after reading like the first sentence explaining what ST was. I have no idea if the colors here have anything to do with ST or not, but I loved them. Guess I was liking orange way back when ;)

Anyhow, if you knew the who dyed the yarn, then the name String Theory would make sense. Adam, the man behind Yarn Nerd Yarns. Unfortunately, he no longer dyes yarns for sale as he's pretty busy in his new career.

I tried knitting this colorway before cuff down. It pooled like crazy, and I didn't like it. Knitting with this yarn though, it was wonderful. The base yarn is so very soft!
I never learned this in Physics class socks
Sometimes for me, just reversing the knitting, a toe up sock changes the colors the way I like it.

Methinks my cuff knitting was a bit tense on sock 1...hmmm, it's the same number of rows...
Heel Pic
The pattern is just my normal toe, foot knit to my normal length, and Wendyknit's Sportweight Toe up Gusset Heel. (oh I did use her stitch count too, but that's basically it) (linked to her free pattern page as I didn't want to link to a pdf)

I'll be teaching a toe up class in the future at a Guild meeting and I wanted to give them more options on heels. I've knit this heel before in fingering weight yarn, it's pretty easy to do. This time, it did pool a bit, but that's a normal spot for many colorways. I can live with that.
Toe Pic!
Gotta have a toe pic!

Ahhhh...
Love this bind off!
My favorite bind-off in rib. I've used this in hats as well, it's awesome.

String Theory Socks
Here it is again... Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off aka JSSBO

String Theory Colorway
3.0 mm circular, magic looped as usual :)
My own generic sock pattern with heel from Wendyknits

Now this is what I love about knitting toe up.
All that was left...
Sometimes, all you have is a wee ball left. Not bad seeing how I didn't divide the skein like I usually do...

Latte Love

Been a long time since I've had some fiber prOn around here.

This was my January Fiber Club shipment from Bee Mice Elf

Laurs's inspiration was how a hot drink can chase away the winter blues and make us feel warm and toasty.
003

Chai Latte is her drink of choice. Also, 25% of this is Milk fiber. Produced with milk protein, another reason for the name maybe ;)
009

I can definately see the color inspiration. I especially love the greens, caramel, burgundy..heck I love the whole braid.
005

And is it ever so soft. This will definately turn into something cozy around the neck.
010
Or...I could just wear the braid and save myself some time ;)

Bee Mice Elf Fiber Club - January 2010
"Latte Love"
Superwash Merino 75%, Milk 25%
4 oz.

I'm no longer in the club, I need to spin the lovely fluff I already have. She posts info about the club on Ravelry, waiting lists right now I think. Let me tell you, out of 6 shipments, I loved EVERY one! I have never, ever said that about any yarn/fiber club I've been in before because at least 1 time, I wouldn't like the colorway. She often has updates at her Etsy shop too.

Hoping it spins up lovely. Stay tuned, my wheel has been missing me and I it. It sits there in and taunts me...it even has fiber all prepped and waiting ....

About those colors....

Well they became these....

A row of crochet potholders for the 2010 Potholder Swap
A row of crochet
I decided to join about 3 weeks before they were due. Of course I didn't plan for the dental drama to take away some time from finishing...but oh well.. I finished and they are on their way.

Not much crochet here before huh? Other than an afghan, some washcloths, and edging on knitted items, I really haven't done this much double crochet since I was about 15.....

I call this one New Orleans....reminded me of some Mardi Gras fabric I found down there.
I call this one

This one...sigh..reds...multiple pics taken in/out of the house...etc. This is the best one.
grrr reds....
I pulled the colors from the varigated yarns in both of these.
Greens, tans, and varigateds

You have to join 2 of them for the potholder, so I decided to reverse the color order on the 2nd ones I made.
Greens & Tans
I made the hangers by chaining 10 at the end and securing the other end down. I think single crochet around the chain until it was covered. Not half bad..

My favorite one :) Glad I have some leftovers to make my own...
My favorite one :)
some day! 10 11 of these in a few weeks is enough...

See the flip side...
The flip side
The pattern is easy, all you need to know how to do is single, half, and double crochet's. The rest is all explained. Ahhh who knew frogging of crochet was so soothing too ;) and quick!

Here they are all together for the last time...sniff... When they reach their destination, they'll be separated forever! 5 Lucky swappees will then own them. Sure hope they like them.
041
Sadly the middle one in the bottom row...pictures just stunk so that's all you'll see of that one. If one was smart one would have taken pictures after each one was done, not trying to get them done before one was about to mail them! Gauge wise, not too bad, 3 were the same size, and the other 2 were. All were done with the same size hook even...I'm thinking the Aslan Trends yarn is a little bit heavier weight. It's ok, they are some thick potholders.

Size E 3.5mm crochet hook
Stir Me Up Potholders (pdf in middle of post) by Pepperknit
Ravelry pattern here
Yarns: Aslan Trends Pima Clasico in Vibrant Orange, Volcano, Fire Red, Dahlia, Blue Atoll, Garden Green & Artisan Gold.
Tahki Cotton Classic in Dark Chocolate, Beige, and Cream.
Tweedy Cotton Classic in Green Variegated (most of these colors are now discontinued. I've had some of them for a while.)

I barely used 1/4 skein on some colors, some I used barely 3/4ths. I have a lot leftover. Guess they'll come in handy next year ;)

Remember I said 11. Yeah, this was #1 out of Peaches/Sugar & cream. I used a size 4.0 hook
Practice Potholder
Um..I have some great colors and wanted to use them...but after just 1 with that yarn there was no way I could do 9 more...so off to the LYS and my stash for a replacement.

It does make a wonderful dishcloth though! Go on make some, either dishcloths or potholders, you know you wanna!

Off to knit and torture my left hand, so it matches my right :P

Be soft

One request for chemo caps, to be soft. This one fits the bill.

Be Soft Beret
Another thing it fits is the style. A friend whose Mom is going through chemo recently told me that not everyone wants a cap/toboggan/head hugging style of cap.

Geesh Mom!
So my goal in this year's chemo knits are going to strive to be stylish and fun to wear. Not too wild, but something to cheer someone up.

005
This pattern is easy and I really like it. I see a few more in different yarns appearing in the future.

008
Is she done yet??

Taos Beret
Caron's Simply Soft in Navy
US 8 circs, knit mostly with Zephyr tips, goes pretty fast.
***made the large size, please note when setting up for decrease shaping if you knit the larger size you should knit 22, then place marker......ask me how I know ;)

Started during the Olympics, but not finished until...um..I can't remember...oh well ;)

Get yer Greens....

Don't know why, but greens are catching my eye lately. Not that you'd notice me knitting with any of it lately...that will be remedied soon! ;)

My latest destash find.
Get your Greens

The brightness and vibrance of these skeins just cheer me up...
Love the knot
I need it today...lucky me is getting a root canal! New crown to replace cracked tooth, discover after weekend of pain, crack is deeper than suspected. So in a few weeks, I'll be getting another new crown...dental work...fun times...not!

Anyhow, pardon me while I hide this skein in my purse to squeeze today.
Ahhh
Merino Handpainted Fingering Weight in Get Your Greens
100% single ply merino wool, 2 skeins of 440 yds.
The Plucky Knitter in my lucky hands via a destash. This will be a shawl one day. Something I can wrap around and cuddle with :)

Petite Pansie Picots

Say that 10 times fast!

With all my time in February knitting a hat, scarf, and a shawl, I knew I wouldn't have time to finish my current sock in progress for SAM 9 . So I decided to knit my usual stand-by socks. Magic 28 Socks

This time, I wanted to try a picot cuff.
Petite Picots
I wasn't sure it would work due to the number of stitches (28) but hey, what the heck, it's a small sock if I have to frog it. Aren't they cute???

This yarn may be familiar, it's the leftovers from this pair. As you can see by the toe pic, I didn't have enough leftover.
Toe pic
Of course, I didn't find that out until I had already finished toe 1. I also realized, I have no purple sock yarn. So in true last minute style, while watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics, I frogged back sock 1 and knit the toes in some leftover Cascade 220 superwash from these socks.

No plans for these, but I'll save them for some future little baby girl.
