WIP it Wednesday

Been a while doing one of these.

Liesl on sleeve island
Liesl is sooo close. I need it for son's graduation next month!

Cotty 3
My 3rd pair of Cotty socks. This time ankle ones and my first double gusset heel ala Turtlegirl. So far so good, have a few more decreases then I'll try it on. Not worried though.

Blogger doesn't like my browser (IE) and I can't change as we have some home systems that run off it...boo...well I'll do the best I can ;) I don't like the new set up though.

Well my day off, gotta do housework, laundry, knit, spin, pedicure, cook...geesh, why call it a day off huh!

Another Peaceful Day

Our knit group met on Earth Day for an afternoon of knitting, snacking, and enjoying hanging out with the Alpacas at Peaceful Prairie Ranch! (so cool I can see their ranch from my house...well almost, they are about 5 minutes away) The alpacas are 1 week away from being shorn for the year. They sure looked a bit fluffy compared to my last visit with them in October.

My new Ravatar is the snarky looking white one on the right LOL!

This guy looks to me like Elvis with his wild hair.

014
Just checking us out!

Look at all the colors of future fleece!

Ready to be shorn!
See him here (white/black coat) his hair on his head is a riot!

Viola! Found the missing picture!
Elvis!!
He's wild looking...and my newest Ravatar ;)

What you looking at??

006
The backside of a pregnant alpaca. There were about 6 ready to be birthed in the near future.

Such a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Sun, knitting, good friends (that bring great snacks and drinks!) and beautiful scenery!

Spinach Souffle

Fat Cat Knits
Ha! Not what you were expecting was it? 6 oz. of yummy Polwarth. When I purchased it, I knew right away I wanted to 3 ply it.

Bobbin progress shot.
Spinach Souffle

A few months and 2 more bobbins later....

Setting up to be 3 plied.

Now that's a full bobbin!
Quite the full bobbin!

As usual, navajo plied the leftovers

Plied shot! (sorta like a toe pic shot ;)
3 Ply
Even after it's bath it was still quite twisty.  So I ran it through the wheel and soaked it again.  Much better after that.  Turns out I had plied it on the smallest whorl so it added extra twist.

After it's 2nd bath, it poofed up a bit and is perfect.
Spinach Souffle

Yum!  Hungry now!
Spinach Souffle
Dyed by FatCatKnits for the August 2011 SAL
6 oz. of Polwarth fiber
Approx. 187 yds of heavy worsted 3 ply

Not a heck of a lot of yardage, however...it was 3 singles that made it...that means I'm getting better at spinning consistent singles....

Well...I thought so after this spin....stay tuned later this week. Once the package arrives I'll post what I mean :(

Ten on Tuesday

ToT-Button1

This week's topic is 10 5 favorite ways to prepare eggs

1. Hard boiled - makes good sandwiches!

2. Scrambled - add cheese, onions, whatever!

3. Omlettes - I love making my own, don't do it often.  Love cheese, onions, mushrooms, ham/bacon, green peppers....yum!

4. Over hard - you know fried so the yolk is cooked.  This is how I make my egg sandwiches, place a slice of cheese over it and serve between some toast...easy meal.

5. Over medium - when I want the yolk to be runny....sop it up with my toast...again...yum
Although it's really strange that I love runny yolks, I detest runny whites!!!

Gosh.....I can't think of any other ways...so today you get 5 on Tuesday....

Sewing up the Stash

While packing some of my stuff up for the move, I did donate a lot of my fabric stash to a local church to quilt up for donations to various charities.

When I moved here one of the local knitting groups I attend was asking for blankets and knitted items.

As hubby was repacking and sorting the boxes in the garage, I found a bit some leftover fleece. I had only solids so a quick trip to the fabric store for a few yards to help complete them.

No pattern really, just cut the solids a little smaller than the prints.  I was going to cut and tie them, but figured out this self-binding was much easier and cheaper.
Cupcake blankie

Love this cupcake print!
016

I had used some of this yellow/gold fleece for a lion costume for my daughter years ago.
024
So glad I found a print that looked pretty good with it.

They turned out a bit shorter than crib length. Perfect for use in car seats and strollers I think :)
Blankets

Hoping the lucky wee ones enjoy them :)
Ready to go :)

Stay tuned for more sewing....

You can't see it but one of these toes had to have surgery...yeah I forgot with Wendy's toe up patterns, I often have to start my heels earlier than my usual 7.5 inches...that wasn't fun to pull out and reknit...
