Oh...Black Water...keep on rolling....

Or not ;)

The longest 60" of knitting in my life!  You all know I dislike immensely knitting scarves back & forth, but hubby wanted a new scarf.  Since he is pretty supportive of my fibery pursuits, I figured I'd tolerate it as much as possible...

The longest 60" of my life.....
I do admit I did want to poke my eyes out a few times ;)

You can see the edges of the scarf...no rolling!  Due to the slipping of the last stitch, when you turn it around to start the K2, it ends up wrapping the slipped stitch.  Very nice edge.

I didn't want to take it off, it's so seriously snuggly and soft!

Rows of squooshy rib!
BTW, it may look like rib, but not a purl stitch was knit until the bind off...wild huh!

A pile of softness for sure :)

I used my new set of Cubics Interchangeable tips.  I really enjoyed using them, easy on the hands. I admit I was a bit leary as another pair of square needles didn't work well for me.  I only bought 2 tips to go with the set of miscellaneous KP cords.  They work well with them.

Size 8 needle
Only mods was the bind off.

An easy mindless knit...not easy to fix a dropped stitch without tinking though ;) ask me how I know.  The bind off makes no sense at all.  I tried it and it was too tight so I ended up using JSSBO and it turned out great.  Hubby used it today and loved it.  Now back to regularly scheduled knitting and spinning ;)

Exploring AZ

This past weekend we visited  Flagstaff.  Well we didn't get to explore the city this time...we explored here instead.

See those snow covered mountains in the distance....
002
I see this view on our walks and driving all around here.

Here it is the closer we get...
Getting closer

Even Closer...

I sure could get used to this view outside my college window.

New experiences.....

I've read about CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture) for years, ever since I started reading blogs. For some reason, I never wanted to investigate it when I lived in NC...why??? not sure.

Anyhow, a few friends had mentioned the CSA they used, Bountiful Baskets.  They seemed very happy with the amount and quality of produce so I thought I'd try it.  It was easy to order which basket I wanted and had a few extras like 5 loaves of nine grain bread, cases of veggies/fruits, to which I didn't order...not that many people living here.  So good to know if I need/want to order case quantities that are offered I can.

So fast forward to my anticipation on standing in line at 8 am Saturday morning in the local park for my pick up. I'm lucky I have a few areas I can go to, but heck, when one is less than 10 mins from your house and the price of gas, you choose that one ;)

I was warned sometimes it takes a while, so dress warm.  I did in my hat/cowl set. Got checked in and shown to my 2 baskets (fruit/veggies divided) and filled my bags. It didn't take long at all!

Came home to sort out the loot! Another reason we're trying this, let alone the freshness, is to experience new fruits/vegetables to us.
1st CSA Haul!
I was amazed!  For less than $20 all of this.  Heck the asparagus and pineapple alone are almost $10!  I know the pears don't look the best on the outside, but they were delicious.

1st CSA haul
Had the corn last nite and have another meal of it left. Salad is tonite, asparagus tomorrow.  If we don't eat the broccoli in the next few days, I'll be blanching it and freezing it.  Celery is all ready for snacking.

Eggplant, hmm...I've had it fried...anyone give me a recipe for a small eggplant?  Side dish maybe?
1st CSA Haul
Total haul first week was: 1 pineapple, 8 bananas (good thing we like smoothies around here, plus good for bread), 5 oranges, 1 lemon, 4 pears, 1 eggplant, 4 ears of corn, 1 celery, 1 head romaine lettuce, 1 bunch broccoli, and 1 bunch asparagus

I'm pretty pleased so far.  They send an email out with information for newcomers and tell you to try it for at least a month.  We will, but I'll be bummed I can't next Saturday.....why???

Ahem.....college visit out of town...ahem...not sure if I'm ready for that one to leave the nest....well I won't lie, sometimes I am ;)

Ten things you can see from your favorite knitting spot, which is my fiber/yarn/fabric studio.

005
Well here's a picture of it to the right....

006
and to the left.....

1. Sewing machine and projects in process.
2. Spinning wheel at the ready.
3. Pile of crochet potholders I've received in swaps, awaiting the install of this.
4. Extra chair for a visitor, come on over!
5. That huge mirror...well there are 2 of them.  Ugh...have no place to store them so here they stay.  This room was decorated as a workout room before we bought it.  Don't like the colors, but they'll be staying for a while.
6. Tub of destash yarns/fibers awaiting to be purchased.
7. Red bag on left is holding just purchased quilt fabric...itching to start that one.
8. Size like 50 needles I got on a whim as I had big plans to do big needle knitting...um..er..not yet. (in front of red paper bag.
9. Basket with new club fibers awaiting their turn on the wheel.
10. Cool curved cover box that houses my circular needles.

There you have it, my place of escape.  Off to escape to it now...have a knit to finish :)
