<br />
I entered the Snobby Spinner swap again this year. It was tough as I moved in the middle of it. My goal had been to finish the spinning part before the move....well, best laid plans huh! My 12 hr shifts do not allow for much of anything after work, I'm too beat :(<br />
<br />
Anyways, onto the fiber before spinning.<br />
<br />

No mods, you basically knit until it's as big as you want or you run out of yarn...it was close, I had about a quarter ball leftover. What I thought was cool was I lucked out as one of 1,000 people who got the pattern free. My swap partner liked it a lot. Next time I'll show you my loot!<br />
<br />
Have a good week!!<br />

Here's hoping for more blogging and knitting, spinning, and quilting in 2014!<br />
<br />
When I last left you in December we were hoping to close on the 20th....well we moved in that weekend and did not close until January 3rd....sigh...long story on that. However, the house is now ours. So you can guess where most of January went on my days off...yeah, unpacking. This is our 4th move in 2 years....hoping we are here for at least 3 years, but who knows!<br />
<br />
I have been knitting and spinning when I can to save my sanity. Still working 12 hour shifts and attempting to get the house in order. The last room of course is my fiber studio, which is still not completely done, slowly getting there.<br />
<br />
We are also trying to downsize even more...we'll see how that goes!<br />
<br />
So...in the spinning department I spun up these skeins:<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/11199684763/player/b8119691fa" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="380"></iframe><br />
Two if By Hand Superwash Merino,a 3-ply in Firework and some 3-ply and n-ply leftovers. Socks soon I think....it is sportweight about 300 yds, my default yardage it seems.<br />
<br />
From this:<br />
<br />
<iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8202016862/player/ed5aefb7b8" height="490" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/12299860224/player/5442f6cf60" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="271"></iframe><br />
Two if By Hand Organic Merino in Flowers and Football Tops, a chunky n-ply spin of about 180 yds or so. Will be a nice squooshy hat or something. Their organic merino is so nice to spin!<br />
<br />
<iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/5676948587/player/f1fc71d28f" height="409" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe><br />
<br />
Such cool colors huh, reminds you of Footballs and Flowers ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
Knit a few hats:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="375" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/10982658725/player/485bc4fcfc" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe><br />
Gargantuan Melon in Plucky Knitter Bulky Big Sky and Wintry Mix for a former coworker. This was knit in leftovers from my Zags cowl. I still have more left! Love Plucky Bulky. Working on another project with it too :)<br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/12299530233/player/876cf4bcd2" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="425"></iframe><br />
My first Hats for Sailors hat of 2014, a Barley had knit in Pagewood Farms Kiana, a superwash wool in Marine Girl...going to a Navy person..um..hehe.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/12299522935/player/2204d4c8e1" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="375"></iframe><br />
This is a scarf knit back and forth...um..just what I dislike usually. However knit in Rasta on size 17 needles, this Super-Fast Ultra-Cozy scarf goes pretty quick. That's 2 full skeins of Rasta (about 180 yds of super bulky yarn) It also went to another former coworker.<br />
<br />
<br />
I have one more FO that deserves it's own post so that is coming later :) Maybe some house photos too! I'll try not to stay away so long!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

It sorta works out, however going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark is not fun.<br />
<br />
Anyways....onto what's going on ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/11444178985/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="375"></iframe><br />
This place is almost done....like in 2 days we sign for it. Sadly due to the weather, it rains tons here, they cannot grade the land for sod or the fence. Looks like the dog will have to enjoy daycare for another week or two.<br />
<br />
I have a few FO's and will share one with you tonite, I gotta get to bed and more packing tomorrow. Interesting just how much we fit in this 2 bedroom apartment over the last 2 months!<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/11444310015/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="483"></iframe><br />
I knit this for my daughter and although I attempted to make the floats loose, it's still a little tight. Hope she likes it :)<br />

Here is the lovely cowl, pre blocking....<br />
<br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/10750784234/" title="Post Blocking by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Post Blocking" height="249" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5471/10750784234_b75f840338.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Post blocking by steam. Yes you can see where I changed colors here, but on it doesn't show. I surely did not want to alternate skeins....a sweater yes, a cowl no!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/10750783744/" title="On a fence by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="On a fence" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7368/10750783744_e25f7cf3af.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Posing on a fence near our apartment. These black fences are all around here in horse country. I personally love them. Not good to keep a dog in, but love the look...<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/10750708786/" title="Close up by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Close up" height="500" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5508/10750708786_7f62fa45fa.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Close up of the stitch detail, looks so hard, but so easy to do.<br />
<br />
I did all the pattern repeats and it is wide, but I like it fine.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/10750709066/" title="Cowl and dog by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Cowl and dog" height="458" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5481/10750709066_e720435850.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Can you see my pal there, he was not impressed by the photo shoot.<br />
<br />

Worn single looped, it is long....<br />
<br />
Worn doubled so much better!<br />

Well I did have a good excuse, packing up and moving across country right?<br />
<br />
I survived driving at breakneck speed across a few states to get to our final destination. Hubby is not a relaxed traveller at all!! I had to follow the small moving van/truck combo driving the Jeep. Thank goodness for Siruis music!<br />
<br />
A view from the back of our apartment complex and home until mid December.<br />

Interesting living in 2 bedrooms with a cat and a large dog ;)<br />
<br />

Sorry for dropping off like that but it's been crazy around here! More on that later ;)<br />
<br />
In the meantime, there has been knitting! Not as much as I want...but more on that later too ;)<br />
<br />
I knit up these 2 hats to go with some socks I had already finished a while ago. I donated them for a couple of baby shower gifts.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/9441710344/" title="Blue Rib Baby Set by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Blue Rib Baby Set" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7340/9441710344_f774444478.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />

Used doubled for the hat.<br />
<br />
<br />
I had these wee <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/magic-28">Magic 28 socks</a> and knit the stockinette version of the hat linked above.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/9441710244/" title="Baby Lipstick Set by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Baby Lipstick Set" height="282" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2889/9441710244_79d808620e.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Leftovers from <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/zknitter/mr-greenjeans">this</a> sweater ;)<br />

<br />
Are you tired yet? I sure am! Main reason why is declutterizing the house and doing some touch up painting, baseboard cleaning...Oh and packing up all the stashes...fabric, yarn, and fiber.<br />
<br />
Why???? Well in less than a month, we'll be back on the East coast again...well if you call Kentucky east coast ;) Hubby got a promotion and I'm on the job search again. Finger crossed the house sells quickly and I can unpack the stashes and be around my lovelies again!! So hard to decide what to bring to knit, spin, and finish for about 2 months....gonna be interesting!!<br />
<br />

That's not really it's name....more like it's smell! Sigh....<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/9132498830/" title="Zags again by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Zags again" height="500" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2875/9132498830_3d8445f2bf.jpg" width="304" /></a><br />
You see that's a pretty dark blue and I was leery it would bleed onto the white.....So I put a wee too much vinegar in the soak...<br />
<br />
Close up here! Cool pattern, after the first few rows, no instructions needed.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/9132498774/" title="Zags2 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Zags2" height="375" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3751/9132498774_740eb716dd.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Now if I could figure out how to wear the darn thing!!! I confess, I have 2 other eternity scarves on the needles for a long while, this is the first one I finished. <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/9132498618/" title="Zags by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Zags" height="391" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7341/9132498618_e3664e7221.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Sure is a pretty blue and gray/white though ;)<br />

I swear I am starting to like owls now, spot them everywhere. My last spinning swap pal loved them.<br />
<br />
As well as a fellow knitter here. She did not know if boy or girl, but she wanted everything owly...<br />
<br />
So in addition to the soakers, I whipped these burp cloths up!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8540122105/" title="Inside of burp cloth by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Inside of burp cloth" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8390/8540122105_09cd9ff847.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Here's a stack of them! I used this <a href="http://sewshesews.wordpress.com/2009/07/29/burp-cloth-tutorial/">tutorial</a>! We met wee baby Caleb yesterday (1 week old!) and the top one is in use. I forgot how little babies are!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8540122079/" title="Owl Diaper burp cloths by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Owl Diaper burp cloths" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8370/8540122079_80c601c6d6.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Flannel works great and I washed both the diapers and the flannel and used a bit of vinegar in the flannel load to help with possible dye runoff.<br />
<br />
So, see these cute owls here. I was going to use this fabric for the above burp cloths, but found out the flannel is much better.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8671259232/" title="owl pillowcase by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="owl pillowcase" height="360" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8527/8671259232_6a4295bbfa.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
My LQS (local quilt shop) where I hung out a bit prior to full time working was collecting pillowcases for various charities. Last year I think I sewed 20 or so. It was fun finding the solids to match.<br />
<br />
<br />
Any Dr. Who fans???<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8680323146/" title="Tardis by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Tardis " height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8533/8680323146_b2ff1d818f.jpg" width="319" /></a><br />
Enter the Tardis colorway!! Soon to be n-plied on a wheel near me soon ;) Sock yarn here I come...stripey sock yarn!<br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8200924077/" title="TIBH Pope Mittens by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="TIBH Pope Mittens" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8204/8200924077_9a6fa47122.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Became this skein.....<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8209541565/" title="PM 1 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="PM 1" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8341/8209541565_b779a73a12.jpg" width="274" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Which was knitted up like <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/norie">this</a>...<span id="goog_613059758"></span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8574095202/" title="Pope Norie by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Pope Norie" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8574095202_e1116f48d0.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Gah...about 2" from this picture is when I ran out of yarn...<br />
<br />
Note that first picture...yeah, I was saved, I had another braid! So, I did what any other spinner that had an extra braid of fiber....tore a hunk off and spun it up.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8609154560/" title="wee pope 2 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="wee pope 2" height="361" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8402/8609154560_477d2b9eb6.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
You see 40 more yards here in this wee little yarn cake....<br />
<br />
<br />
The weight was more like worsted where the prior handspun was a sport/dk weight...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8609151666/" title="pope norie 4 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="pope norie 4" height="458" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8380/8609151666_04fc751946.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
However, to finish the crown decreases...it didn't matter..<br />
<br />
I.LOVE.this hat!! Wished it was colder! It fits perfect and the Finn does not bother me at all!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8609151606/" title="pope norie 1 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="pope norie 1" height="475" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8110/8609151606_c43403506f.jpg" width="449" /></a><br />

US 5 needles<br />
Mods: I did not knit the cats paw lace and started crown decreases after row 67.<br />
<br />
Love this colorway. Have almost a full braid left and a skein that looks a bit different due to a different fiber and way of spinning. Interesting how that happens ;)<br />
<br />
Sigh..will have to wait for next winter...sure hope we are still in a cold climate though....hmmmmm...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8609151626/" title="pope norie 3 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="pope norie 3" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8381/8609151626_e628691294.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Not too thrilled about the yellow bullseye...you know I dislike yellow ;)<br />

US 7 needles<br />
<br />
I had 2 skeins and thought it was a great idea to use up the first skein on the garter part and the 2nd on the ribbed section...well, should have knit the garter section to the full 9" and then the ribbed section to finish...oh well, still have some leftovers.<br />
<br />
Love the colors, it'll go with a lot!<br />

<br />
One of the girls in our knitting group is having a baby in the next few weeks and plans to cloth diaper and use soakers. So we got together and now she has about 12 of them. Here are my two contributions.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snapdragon-soaker">Snapdragon Soaker</a><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8514029373/" title="Baby soaker by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Baby soaker" height="461" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8091/8514029373_ea742f444c.jpg" width="467" /></a><br />
Malabrigo Worsted in Emerald Blue<br />
US 5 & 8 needles<br />
No mods, except for not knitting the YO row for the drawstring tie.<br />
<br />
This one was knit from leftovers of Malabrigo worsted too.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8530542506/" title="soaker by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="soaker" height="411" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8511/8530542506_bd4bfb2629.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
The variegated is Col China and the other is Burgundy, left over from a UFO...yeah, think I need to finish that one.<br />
<br />
<br />
I'm sure they will be put to good use!<br />

Has it really been a month! It's been interesting getting back into the 40 hr work week again. I did get used to the part time hours and having more free time. There has been knitting and spinning going on, just taking more time than ususal to finish.<br />
<br />
Here's a blanket I started in August. The baby was due in February, but came 1 month early. I finished the other day and it's going out in the mail tomorrow.<br />
<br />

The purple is hard to capture just so.<br />
<br />
I love the green and wanted to do a different edge.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8529429641/" title="Picot edge by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Picot edge" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8532/8529429641_55f97c7815.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />

Dream in Color Classy- Pansy Go Lightly (2 skeins) and 1/4 skein of Happy Forest<br />
US 8 circulars<br />
<br />
Notes: used Judy's magic cast on with a long circular, then switched to dpns until it grew enough to fit on a 24" circular. Ended using a 40" circular and 420 stitches. Knit 3 garter ridges for edging, then a c/o 3 and bind off 6 for the picot bind off.<br />
<br />
I had always wanted to knit one....um..now I can say I have ;) Perfect for TV knitting....will I knit another one....not anytime too soon ;)<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/4792282198/" title="Polwarth fiber by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Polwarth fiber" height="375" src="http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4080/4792282198_ef578f6a00.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Turned into this mostly bulky n-ply yarn.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/4844876283/" title="048 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="048" height="375" src="http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4088/4844876283_a5ee559624.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Why my bloody viking you ask? Well the colorway name is Eric, you know from Trueblood. It was always destined to be around my neck. ;)<br />
<br />
Finally found a pattern to use my low amount of yardage with (136 yds)<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8436596702/" title="bvc3 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="bvc3" height="455" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8502/8436596702_4727bdbcf8.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
It's the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mr-cowl">Mr. Cowl</a> pattern by Dani Sunshine.<br />
US 10 needles<br />
9h x 9.5" wide<br />
No mods. A great, easy pattern.<br />
<br />
<br />
Still cold in the early mornings around here, so it's perfect.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8436596502/" title="BVC 1 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="BVC 1" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8368/8436596502_681ccfb1ac.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Best part, it matches my Cashmere Leaves hat I knit. I lost the cowl I knit in the same aran cashmere yarn, so My Bloody Viking Cowl will do ;)<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8435544517/" title="Matchy....almost matchy by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Matchy....almost matchy" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8188/8435544517_473e1dfe5c.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Oh, and the secret I couldn't talk about, after 1.5 years of trying, I have found a full time job, M-F!! I start on the 11th. Not in x-ray, but still in the medical field using my first degree. I now have 3 career fields I can use wherever we live. Now to get used to working all week long and weekends off.....oh and the best part, NO more 3 am shifts!<br />

It was a club colorway from <a href="http://shop.southerncrossfibre.com/">Southern Cross Fibre</a>, a few months before I got into the club (my one and only one...hey, I waited a looong time for this club ;)<br />
<br />

Puppy Dog Tails Superwash Merino from <a href="http://shop.southerncrossfibre.com/">Southern Cross Fibre</a>, <br />
4 oz., 264 yds of sportweight<br />
<br />
I got lucky on a destash and it turned out to be perfect for my Snobby Holiday Swap partner.<br />
<br />
It's a lovely, soft superwash merino. I tried to divide evenly...um...but I had a few issues, so I just went with the flow and spun it up.<br />
<br />
I didn't get a skeined shot as it was a few days before Christmas, I had a houseful of people and had to start immediately to finish for the deadline....<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8331239538/" title="Puppy Dog Tails by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Puppy Dog Tails" height="485" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8076/8331239538_aecd46885e.jpg" width="467" /></a><br />
My goal was sock weight....got more of a sportweight and sadly not enough for the size needed for my swap partner....What you see here is only 1 of 2 yarn cakes.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8330184245/" title="SCF PDT by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="SCF PDT" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8361/8330184245_1933ed9c9f.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
So I went with plan B....<br />
<br />
Here are the n-ply leftovers...they turned out to be plan C....<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8330184851/" title="PDT nply by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="PDT nply" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8497/8330184851_321727a7ec.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
B is for <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/83952633@N00/3646583926/">Lacey Baktus</a><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8397315758/" title="LB in PDT by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="LB in PDT" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8376/8397315758_d9a5eaa076.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Turned out pretty well I think! I knit the smaller yarn cake (by a few grams) first, then tied on the 2nd yarn cake and started the decreases. Used a US 7 needle with no mods.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8397315876/" title="LB on the bush by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="LB on the bush" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8492/8397315876_38a5054199.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Baktus on a Bush! It's a really easy pattern and works great for handspun too.<br />
<br />
Oh...the plan C....it turned out to be an <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/owl-puffs">Owl Puff</a><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8397316234/" title="wee baby owl by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="wee baby owl" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8229/8397316234_f987117e01.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Size US 7 needles, no mods. Most of these are knit up with 2 or more colors. I thought some stripey yarn worked even better. My swap partner likes owls.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8396231989/" title="Me and my Daddy! by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Me and my Daddy!" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8518/8396231989_0e105a8d64.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />

Time has been flying....<br />
<br />
-Had a house full of relatives for Christmas, was good to see them. I still had to work job 1, you know prime season. :( Here's the only gift knit I finished!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8331239424/" title="Debs hat cowl set by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Debs hat cowl set" height="443" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8071/8331239424_9350eacbc4.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pretty-darn-cozy">Pretty Darn Cozy Cowl</a> and <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/zknitter/man-hat">Man hat</a> for my SIL. Knit in acrylic as she's allergic to wool.<br />
<br />
-Was sick for 3 days, the first time in many years, still had to work job 1 :( (always had sick leave in the past)<br />
<br />
-Got 2 awesome Christmas packages from good friends! (sorry no pics) I was feeling quite down this year as lack of funds for any gifts for anyone. :( I am so lucky to have caring friends that don't mind theirs being late, you guys rock and you know who you are ;)<br />
<br />
-DD finally found a job!!! Happy dance! She also started her 2nd semester of college this week, so she's learning the school/work/social life balancing act.<br />
<br />
-Done some sekrit spinning and knitting. As soon as my swap partner gets her package today, I'll post them!<br />
<br />
-Speaking of swaps, I got my Snobby Swap package a bit ago!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8358955411/" title="Snobby Swap package by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Snobby Swap package" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8358955411_cf6742fb4a.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Just awesome! I so needed a good shawl pin and I can never make my mind up when I see them so I don't buy them LOL...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8358955651/" title="modeled shot by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="modeled shot" height="360" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8080/8358955651_9f5c5d3247.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Here's my rockin' hat!! It's so soft and light, but very warm! It's been in the 10 degrees and lower in my early morning shifts!<br />
<br />
Hoping to share some other "news" with you soon....must be patient!<br />
<br />
No resolution making this year other than destashing more and knitting/spinning more! Promise I won't stay away so long!<br />
<br />

I'm in a handspun swap for most of these, three I am keeping for myself. :)<br />
<br />
I'll mail off each one in a Christmas card and get one from another partner back. Will be interesting to see what I get :)<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8234100536/" title="Smittens!! by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Smittens!!" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8210/8234100536_1ae80abace.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
This is a special one...knit from my first ever hand-dyed handspun.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8234100434/" title="BFL Mitten by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="BFL Mitten" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8486/8234100434_f46a2355a1.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Little did I know while spinning this on my friend's Lendrum I would one day own one. Don't worry, I have plenty left to knit one up for me :)<br />
<br />
The mitten on the left was some leftover handspun spun by a local friend. I knit it using fingering doubled. <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8233075633/" title="Handspun mitts by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Handspun mitts" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8200/8233075633_2ea3dc9120.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
Sorta special too, I sorta taught her to spin on my Traveller (she was a spindle spinner already and truly didn't need my help LOL!) The one on the right has the cuff from my handspun and her leftovers for the hand part. Again, her yarn was knit doubled. This woman can spin fine or what ;) Maybe I need lessons from her!<br />
<br />
Next up...<br />

Hubby loves his grill! It's a natural gas one. Right now it's attached to a hose in the side of our house (on the patio) and part of the gas network of the house. When we move again, he'll just need to get a tank from the nearest natural gas place.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8210629830/" title="turkey1 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="turkey1" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8341/8210629830_6ae7849703.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
About a month ago, we experimented with a chicken (Trader Joe's brined one) and it was delicious!!! So he thought he would try it with a turkey.<br />
<br />
<br />
As you can see, it was perfect! We will be cooking another one when family comes at Christmas, so we'll have to make sure we put some foil on the wingtips.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8209541655/" title="turkey2 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="turkey2" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8346/8209541655_597527ffa1.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
This was a brined turkey and so delicious! Luckily, just right for the 3 of us. Made some turkey chili tonite, turkey casserole for tomorrow night, and just a wee bit left for sandwiches.<br />
<br />
No Black Friday shopping for me, ha! I was working it again. This time from 5 am on. It wasn't too bad, started to get busy when I was leaving. Thank goodness I work for a craft store...no one waiting in lines outside in 30 degree weather for stuff ;)<br />
<br />

<br />
This week's topic: 10 favorite Alfred Hitchcock films.<br />
<br />
Let me tell you, I grew up with these films. I would love to sit and watch them and try to find old Alfred in the film. Did you know he was in a scene in every movie?? I also liked his show, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047708/">Alfred Hitchcock Presents.</a><br />
<br />
1. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056869/">The Birds</a> - OMG, I used to have nightmares about this. I thought it was a horror story...yeah right, not compared to horror stories of today!<br />
<br />
2. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052357/">Vertigo</a> - Jimmy Stewart fan here. The scene in the bell tower made me nauseous. I think I am getting late in life vertigo. When we went to the Grand Canyon last year, I was walking down a trail and got vertigo so bad I thought I was going to fall off the side....no donkey rides down the trails for me!<br />
<br />
3. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047396/">Rear Window</a> - Another Jimmy Stewart one, a good mystery I thought.<br />
<br />
4. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054215/">Pyscho</a> - I mean, really!! Norman Bates! After that movie, I hated taking showers when home alone. Heck, I often bought clear shower curtains too! Phew, now we have glass so I don't have to worry!<br />
<br />
5. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037017/">Lifeboat</a> - Interesting, makes one wonder what you'd do in that situation.<br />
<br />
6. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053125/">North by Northwest</a> - Cary Grant, love all his movies. <br />
<br />
7. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058329/">Marnie</a> - It was a different movie for Tippi Hedren, kept wondering if a bird was gonna fly about!<br />
<br />
8. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068611/">Frenzy</a> - Barely remember it, but hey, it was a Hitchcock movie, so I liked it ;)<br />
<br />
9. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049470/">The Man Who Knew Too Much</a> - Another Jimmy Stewart one. I kept thinking, geesh, go on vacation and look what happens!<br />
<br />
10. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048728/">To Catch a Thief</a> Another Grace Kelly and Cary Grant pairing.<br />
<br />
I'm thinking I need to rewatch some of these, Netflix, watch out!<br />

Instructions and recipes <a href="http://www.theyummylife.com/Refrigerator_Oatmeal">here!</a><br />
<br />
I've been making these for a few months and really enjoy them. You see, 4 days out of the week I work 3 and 5 am shifts. I just can't eat cereal or a lot of anything that early. So I usually eat a slice of toast/fruit/?? on the way to work and during my break I eat these.<br />
<br />
As you can see I don't use the glass canning jars. Too heavy and face it, I'm a klutz! Go now, most stores have these plastic ones on hand.<br />
<br />
Here's some of my basic ingredients (I do add a dash of vanilla extract as well and I didn't show the rolled oats--which I need more of!)<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8089013173/" title="breakfast1 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="breakfast1" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8472/8089013173_8d27e264c1.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Here is a close up of after adding oatmeal, chia seeds, and milk.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8089013129/" title="breakfast by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="breakfast" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8045/8089013129_7cf67dccd7.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Next is the yogurt. You can use plain or any flavor you want, as long as its Greek yogurt. I prefer this vanilla honey flavor.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8089013231/" title="breakfast2 by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="breakfast2" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8189/8089013231_fbc9d1d8ee.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
There you have it the basic recipe! What you add next is totally up to you. <br />
<br />
Since berries are in season and on sale here and well I just have to say this is when I LOVE living on the west coast!<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8089013297/" title="berries by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="berries" height="440" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8045/8089013297_736fc65721.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
These berries taste so freshly picked, it brings back memories of going in my backyard as a kid and picking them myself. Sorry, but when I got these berries in NC...um...not the same taste, same brand too. I think the extra transit time to the East coast really took the freshness out.<br />
<br />
Raspberry bath...<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8089014582/" title="berries in cereal by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="berries in cereal" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8048/8089014582_1399b36fed.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Blackberry bath....<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8089014632/" title="blackberries by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="blackberries" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8468/8089014632_e5027fb841.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
I usually only make 2 up at a time. They are good for 2 days, but since I'm off on Wednesdays I like to make it for the days I work.<br />
<br />
Check out the <a href="http://www.theyummylife.com/">website!</a> Even if cold cereal like this isn't your thing, she has so many others to choose from!<br />
<br />
Let me know what flavors you think you would like or have tried!<br />

Or should I say <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/patterns/Smitten_(a_Holiday_Garland)__D55474220.html">Smittens!</a><br />
<br />
I'm part of a handspun swap of these! 4 down, 20 more to go... Will one day have my own little garland of them.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8075549533/" title="Smittens by zknitter, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8056/8075549533_e58a00c9de.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Smittens"></a><br />
<br />
All knit from handspun leftovers. I have another one started and enough leftovers for at least 5 or 6 more before I need to spin up some of my wee fluffs of fiber...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8068731871/" title="TIBH Plying Potions Pack by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="TIBH Plying Potions Pack" height="240" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8173/8068731871_c4541a3065_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/7305256870/" title="Nests by zknitter, on Flickr"><img alt="Nests" height="320" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7216/7305256870_690c153d70_n.jpg" width="284" /></a><br />
These are just perfect to try new fibers and colorways...<br />
<br />
<br />
However, one needs to have at least 12 grams of leftovers....guess what happens when you don't...um..<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8075549689/" title="Eeek I didn't have enough... by zknitter, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8188/8075549689_0dcb10f52a.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Eeek I didn't have enough..."></a><br />
Yeah, here's hoping some of the above fluffs will match these, if not to the frog pond they go.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zknitter/8075542414/" title="Smitten KAL by zknitter, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8196/8075542414_b47bf3e2d6.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="Smitten KAL"></a><br />
<br />
Here's my one non-handspun one! It's a sekrit, so no details now ;)<br />
