I came home today to find this package!! I could barely contain my excitement as I knew it was from my Dye-o-Rama Swap Pal! (well..I hoped it was ;) It is gorgeous!! I love all of the colors, they look so good together. She said she was inspired by her garden...wow! I bet that is one lovely garden! I guess I'll have to change my sock yarn to be used queue and move this one right up there LOL! This swap was a lot of fun, I learned something I had never done before, how much hard work it is!!, and I feel so honored that someone made something especially for me. How cool is that? I mean you usually pick out the colors you like..but on this swap someone does it for you, they research, ask questions...
The whole skein Close up...look at those colors!!!! :))Thank you again Historic Stitcher for the yarn, the green chibi (I've been looking for that color too! :) and the m&m's, which I am trying to hide from DD and Turtlegirl (shhh..these are a favorite of hers and she doesn't live too far from me and since I threatened to take her lovely Clapotis...you never know ;)
So does anyone have any ideas on what socks I should make? Help..please...I want to show off the colorway but not with a busy pattern...hmmmm what to do...
P.S. I'm going to try to email you again, but the last 2 did not go through :(

Had to pop right over here girlfriend to see whatcha' got from your Dye-O-Rama pal and it's beautiful! Colors from her garden!
The skein is beautiful! Can't wait to see what you turn it into.
That's it. I'm coming out there. I still can't find the white chocolate M&Ms in Charlotte and I feel so cheated!
No really though, we have to meet sometime. I'm pretty portable. I can drive past the halfway point. Any suggestions?
What about Hedera or Pomatomus socks from one of Knitty issues?
Pretty pretty!! Love the name too :)
Those colors work beautifully together. As for patterns, what about wyvern from marnie maclean? I stumbled upon it a few days ago and thought it was interesting without being too fussy.
Personally, I'd eat all those m&m's before they can get their grubby hands on them. :P
That is beautiful yarn! As I write this I am knitting a pair of socks fromt the yarn I recieved yesterday from my pal. I agree that yarn this beautiful needs a simple stitch, so I have been pouring through my stitch pattern books to find just the right thing. I think I am going to use a simple slipped stitch pattern. If I like how it's coming out, I will post it on my blog later today. Good luck with your decision.
Wow - what great colors! That is going to be an awesome pair of socks, whatever pattern you pick.
I second the rec for the Wyverns. I loved doing that pattern.
Pretty pretty! If you have an IK subscription, you can knit the Diagonal Rib Socks that are in the free subscriber-only patterns section. They would look awesome in this yarn if it's handpainted. If it's striping, make Jaywalkers. They'd be awesome.
Yay!!! You deserve that beautiful yarn, Mz. Z!
I'm having the same dilemia as you...what pattern would best show off the awesome yarn you dyed just for me.
Have a great weekend!!
It is space-dyed, not self-striping, but came out with a hand-painted look to it from the way I did it. Might that make the choosing of the pattern a little easier?
I'm so relieved that it is so well-received! I keep smiling, just knowing that you like it!!
I found a pattern that I've use to show off the colors. It's the Thuja sock by Bobby Ziegler. Knits up quick to so you have instant gratification! http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter05/PATTthuja.html
Amazing color - that yarn definately deserves to be moved up in line!
Right now, I am using one of the chevron designs from Sensational Socks, and I really like it a lot - it shows the colorway well, and is easy to memorize, only a two row repeat, and the second row is knit the knits, purl the purls.
Lovely sockyarn! You DO deserve it. Are white M&M's hard to get out your way? I could send a care package to you and Turtlegirl!!
The yarn is so very nice! I really like the colors in it! Wow, what did you decide to make??
