Quilts!!! Picture heavy post!
I used to do quite a bit of quilting before the knitting bug bit me really bad. I still sew, but seriously need to finish a few up. I have made about 5 or 6 more, but sadly (or luckily for you, I cannot find the pictures!) Please visit the flickr page for each to read the history on these here!
I made this wall hanging for my SIL. She loves boots and lives in the West. It didn't fit in the mosaic, so here it is!
This was a quilt made..gosh..in the works for over 20+ years. All the tiny hexagons were hand-stitched together by my husband's Grandmother so long ago. They are bits of fabrics she could collect from clothing, feed sacks, and who know what else. When she passed on, the squares were given to my Mother-in-law. She asked me to put them together. I gulped and said..o..k..and 2 years later, Christmas 2004 it was done. The blocks are called Grandmother's Flower Garden. And yes, it took me 2 years. Every block was HAND stitched together and since I only had so many blocks to work with, I did the best I could. There were days and weeks I didn't want to look at them..but finally I did it. Then the task of finding a backing fabric and hand quilting it. Every, single hexagon you see there...was hand quilted. YIKES! The easiest part....The binding. Found the fabric in like 5 minutes....sewing it on was no problem.
Thanks for stopping by!! Knitting content tomorrow...and yes..um..I frogged again Saturday nite..I have become the Queen of Frogging every other day..so watch out Monday..please no frogging!

Beautiful quilts!
Gorgeous quilts - you are so talented! I especialy love the one with the flip-flops!
Love, love, love your attic windows!!! My mom's a big quilter and she made an attic window quilt for my sister except with fall leaves in the "windows"
I normally don't like that novelty-ish fabric that you put in your windows--but that's a GREAT use of it!!! Very creative!!!
Wow, you are very talented! I love the chicken one, heck I love them all! :)
Wow, that's alot of work and love put into those quilts! I like the stories behind them especially the grandmother's quilt.
Wow! You are so talented. Of couse I already knew that. I love the one you finished for your Grandma and the gold colored one in the top set of pictures. Actually, I love them all!!
The quilts are great. I really like the citysapes one. Are they photo transfers or did you find fabric with that print?
These are so beautiful! I am floored when you said "hand stitched" (!!!) ...I can't imagine but its wonderful.
Man - those are stunning. The blue one with the skylines actually looks 3-D!! I'm totally humbled - you rock.
Those are amazing! I am truly impressed.
Gorgeous quilts! I can appreciate the hard work that go into one of those quilts. Just stunning.
The quilts are beautiful!I understand the hand work involved. My mom does a lot of hand piecing and all her quilting is done by hand. You have so much patience. They are just lovely! Thanks for sharing. I love the chocolates one!
So this is my second attempt to leave a comment, since Blogger didn't like the whole username/password thingy and deleted my prior comment. . . . Sorry to rant on your comments.
Your quilts are stunning. They make me want to pull out my sewing machine and finish the sheep quilt I've had sitting in the spare room for over a year.
I love your quilts. I too am a reformed quilter -- I like knitting better because it's much more social. I've got a couple of quilt tops sitting around that I really should get to, but I'd rather knit a friend a hat. (That happens to be pink, relating to your "P is for..." ABC-along post)
WOW! You are Quilt genious. Me - total idiot!
The quilts are astounding, they really are beautiful.
What a great story behind your grandmother's and so lovely that you could finish it off.
great quilts! i love the slippers and what detail of the tiny hexagon quilt.
I'm totally stunned! These are such amazing pieces of art, each and every single one of them! I so love the history that comes along with quilts, this is something I've always admired - and reading the story about your granny's quilt was so interesting too! Thanks for sharing!
holy moly!! that is insane! i love all the quilts. i like how some of them are just completely different from what one might think of a quilt. like the one with the slippers and the one with skylines. and i can't beleive you sewed the whole hexagon quilt. i would have done one and called it a placemat!
