Friday's Fetchingly Fiber

Happy Friday! Hope all of you that have been sick get better very soon! Now if I can stay away from the chocolate! ;)

Classic Elite

Classic Elite Classic Silk-50% cotton, 30% silk, 20% nylon-Purple Onion Colorway

This yarn is courtesy of my CASP2 Yarnit. It is a really nice yarn! Soft and not too bad to knit with for a cotton based yarn. I love the color and the name is perfect. I love Onions LOL...hmmm wonder if she knew that? Grumperina just finished a sweater with it, well in a different color. This yarn is perfect for down here. Talking sweater...now to find more!

So what did that skein of silky cotton become.........
Fetching Gloves
Fetching from Knitty! Less than 1 Skein of the above yarn, Knitpicks Options-US 6, done with Magic Loop. Thank you everyone before me who suggested ML vs. dpns. Let me tell you..well some of you may already know...those options cords totally rock for ML!! I mean, they just stay out of your way, don't have a memory, etc, etc.... I had to use dpn's for the thumb and trying to keep from forming holes was a bit tricky too! I did have to disquise a few of them. ;)

My mod's were-no picot bind off, but did 2 extra rows before bind off, an extra row of cables, and I did a few extra rows on the thumb, of 1...duh me thought I did it on the other. No cable needle, which I love to do. Wendy has a great video and still picture instructions in case you've never tried it!

Yeah, a lot of people have already knit a pair, some even more than one! As usual, I'm a behind, but that's fine with me. Luckily in time to take on my trip in a couple of weeks! Errr..gotta get cracking though, I have a few things I'd like finished to take with me or I may freeze! I'm going to Seattle for a week, have checked out a few LYS's and got great help from some Knittyfolks and hope to meet a few!

Fetching Gloves
But....mine aren't like others...I have a designer element in mine....can you tell what it is???

1st correct comment answer gets a yarny prize!!

BTW- the pattern has you do the cables twisting right and left, I sure didn't invent it! :)

ETA: Winner has been chosen! Thanks Christy!

The cable twist on the left cuff vs no twist on the right cuff?
The yarn and the mitts are quite "fetching." Yup, so corny but true.

Ah, she beat me to it! You should never ask people to look for flaws in your knitting though... I never would have seen it if I hadn't been looking!

Fetching Are adorable! Also need one (fingerless mitts, not necessary F ones).
And I am sick, so thanks for recovering wish!

you mirrored the cables they turn to the right on one and to the left on the other. and you seem to have started cabling late on one of them.

Very pretty!!! I think String got the design element right, but I didn't see it until after I read her comment. (I wasn't going to guess anyway since I won a prize in your last contest. It's someone else's turn this time!!)

Lovely with or without the feature! Perfect for the trip!

Ooh, I love the color. I can't wait to knit some. By the time I do they will be "so last year"! ;)
I didn't enjoy the one experience I had knitting with cotton. How was it mixed with silk? Any better?

You have a longer lead-in into the cable on the right hand Fetching :) I think my 4 year old needs something like that so she can distinguish right from left!

The right one has 3 cables while the left has 4.

Also your bind off is differrent. ( I used the same one. :) ) and there my be a few more rows after the top cable before binding them off. That I'm not certain of, but if you did, again I did the same thing! :)

Wow, some sharp eyed knitters you have here! Either way, they're very pretty!!

I made Fetchings for my sister--maybe it's time to make some for ME! :)

Lovely yarn, and lovely Fetchings. I always tell people that any "design elements" in my knitting is just proof that it was lovingly hand knit!

Cute, your hands look so pretty :-)

Those fetching gloves look mighty comfy. You'll definitely need 'em in Seattle. I hope you have a good yarn shop itinerary because Seattle is PACKED with good yarn shops. :-Dh

Ahhh, the beauty! I think Fetching is one of the most perfect patterns that has ever been created - easy, quick and just so gorgeous! Your Fetchings look particularly lovely in this great colourway!

They look lovely - design element or not.

Normally I'm not in to the pink stuff, but I love the gloves.

Knit on!
