If you can spare a square.....

Rebekah is organizing a blanket to be made for Sonya's, husband who just found out he has cancer. Rebekah is asking for any size and shape squares in wool or wool blends to make this a very warm blanket for him to use during his treatments. She wants this to be a crazy quilt. Her email is on the left sidebar of her blog.

blanket of hope

As many of you may know, my Mom died of breast cancer and my hubby had prostate cancer last year (very young for that too!). My uncle just had surgery a few weeks ago to have his cancer removed only to get a blood clot and almost not make it. I really hate this disease, it's taken a lot of my loved ones and many of yours too! A lot of people recover, which is wonderful, I hope for more all the time! I work around this everyday, so I just never seem to get away from it.

I try to help where I can, and you know that I usually have to swatch like crazy for projects, so I'm donating my wool swatches and a few more other ones. ;)

So if you can, join in!

Thanks for reading! :)

Thank you so much for telling us about "Blanket of Hope". I *so* hate cancer and the misery and suffering it brings - way too many people I know around here have been diagnosed with it lately too, and it makes me feel so helpless and sad...

I signed up right away for this project too. But if I hadn't, your post would certainly have convinced me.

What a great idea and a wonderful plan. I'll be knitting some squares up this weekend.

Thanks for sharing.

I think I'll try to knit up some squares this weekend in honor of a couple fathers I know (my mom's dad and my bf's best friend's dad) who are dealing with stage 4 lung cancer. My mom has dealt with ovarian cancer twice. Once when she was pregnant with my older younger brother. They told her that either she or Josh wouldn't make it. Luckily both of them did. :)

I'll knit up a square too! My dad is dealing with prostrate cancer too but, luckily so far, it's under control.

Thanks for letting us know about this project!!

Thank you so much for mentioning the Blanket of Hope project. I can't tell you how touched my husband and I are by this. I'm sorry that your family has been touched by cancer. I don't think I realized how many people are touched by it until this happened.

Thanks for letting us know about this! Cancer sucks. Really. I'm hoping to be able to do one of the breast cancer walks this year. Knitting a square is even easier to do, and everyone loves blankets. They are warm and fuzzy and make you feel loved.
