Hiya!! I'm home! Not the happiest to be here, but I'll survive. I missed my daughter a lot and the animals, well they missed us! Both hubby and I miss the snow, the other weather, the people, and the life in Maine. It was so good to smell a woodstove fire again! Snow greeted us into the state and kicked us out on Monday! We really wished we had never left, and until we can make it back, life will go on! Most importantly the trip was successful and accomplished what it needed to.
Ok, enough of my whining before you ask me if I want some cheese to go with it!
Oh yeah, you wanna know my WIP's!
Tilted Duster - This is my boob swatch. I was given the idea from Aimee to just go ahead and knit it for the gauge swatch and you all know I dislike knitting them, so any shortcut is well appreciated. However, I have a dilemma! I always use long-tail cast on and you know since it is considered a knitted row I purled the first row when I started. My main reason for doing so is that it calls to begin and end this piece with a WS row. So did I do this right? The reason I am asking is when I look at the progress the angled part (on your left) is supposed to be on the other side as I am starting the R front. I looked at the L front directions and they seem the same so I will finish this and figure out what to do to make the real right. Should I use another cast on?? help me please....
Mug Cozee's

Welcome back! Sorry, no advice about the cast on. :( Can't wait to see those mug cozies though, I thought it was a really cute pattern when I saw it in the mag!
Welcome back! I can't wait to see the Mug Cozie too--I didn't buy that mag, so it will be a complete surprise to me.
I've heard that the long tail cast on is like a knitted row, but I don't believe it. It always looks like a cast on to me, and so I just treat it like any other cast on. Granted... I've never knit anything where it would matter.
Welcome back, smart lady making a boob swatch, I'll be giggling about that for a while.
I used the knitted CO and then purled the first row. It should be fine :) YAY for boob swatch!
Glad you are home and got to enjoy the snow for a bit!!
Yay for almsot blogiversary too!
Welcome back! No help on the cast on, other than to say I've always treated it as a wrong side row and started with knits straight off.
That mug cozee actually looks more like a boob swatch to me... ;)
Hi! Glad you got to have some snow, though I'm one of those people who'd rather you took it home with you :D
Not sure what to do about the Duster, but I'm glad you're starting on it, so I can follow your progress.
P.S. Got my amazing needle case, I LOVE IT!!!
Welcome back! On the long tail cast on, I just decide which side of the cast on edge I like better and make that the right side. I think one side looks better next to ribbing, and the other side looks smoother with stockinette. I'm looking forward to watching your tilted duster progress. Such a cool sweater.
It's good to have you back!
I'm sorry I have no advice on the cast on for the Tilted Duster you are working on. But I can say I love that color! I've been thinking about amking one - so it will be fun to watch yours come together.
Woo - I love that dark blue - what yarn is it?
Yay for mug cozies! They are a fast knit and a great gift.
Hmmm, about the cast on. I think what you did sounds right.
Yay! You're back! I was kinda hoping the snow would… you know… follow you down…
rats.
Anyway, it was a successful trip and you're back safe and sound. It's all good.
