Tag team knitting....

A few months ago I had re-taught my MIL to knit. After her first scarf I brought her 2 skeins of this yarn, cast on the stitches for her and went on vacation. She asked what it was for, I told her she was knitting a scarf for a Christmas present for her daughter. After one phone call with a question about the stitches, she had it done when I returned. Sadly, she can't knit any longer due to her hands.

Close up of the garter. She knits such even stitches...she really likes chunky weight yarns.

Isn't the colors here just awesome....looks like Noro huh...

This picture can kinda give it away....it doesn't look too wooly does it?

Enter me, um..like just last week. Mom, where's Sis's scarf? "In the box ready to be shipped to her...eeeek! She forgot I was planning on knitting a hat for her. So out of the box it comes and off I go to hopefully find another matching skein.

As you can see I did.

I really love this color combination! Wish it was mine.. Sister in law is highly allergic to wool, so whenever I knit for her I'm always looking for a nice substitute. I really didn't mind knitting with it. It is a 2 ply and you know how sometimes those 2 plys can mess with you. It is pretty soft too, especially knit up.

Look at the top of that hat! Love how perfectly the colors stripe and sigh...just how the decreases look. Heck, they should look good, I had to do them 3 times! Totally my fault, but the pattern doesn't have stitch counts for the decreases, I so depend on stitchcountdecreases...yeah my crutch I know ;)

I'm really happy how the patterning still showed. I was afraid it would be lost in the striping of the yarn, but I think it just enhances it. Those big cabley like stitches are just saying "bam!" can you see me now!

That's an awesome set! Sad about your MiL's hands. My mom is in the same situation. But she can still crochet at least.

That really turned out great, Z! The colors look really nice on DD, though I'm sure she doesn't want to hear that. ;-)
