What a weekend! We've been in this house for 18 years and the original windows left something to be desired, let alone the one that was here I broke trying to open it after I let the paint dry it shut..eek!
A view of the opening. I didn't replace the 1/2 circle one as it was in good shape and it would have cost a lot more to include it as one unit.
Sapphire checking out the new window and the repaired leetle ledge.
A view from DD's room, note the HP scarf on the right, my first in the round project, I learned how holding your needles correctly made the difference in the stitches...you know knit every stitch is stockinette, but if you hold the needles away, and knit..um..purl bumps show where v's should be ;)
See, no painting required, well except on the top semi-circle.
Also 2 new doors, the other one looks the same ;) Some bad news though. While repairing a falling gutter, the contractor found what looks like major water damage to the chimney that we never use. When this house was built, they never put anything to vent the water away from the chimney, a lot of houses around here are in the same boat and most have had work done. Mine will have to have the vinyl siding removed to truly know the extent, yeah, that little estimate could double or triple after this. Therefore, I'm waiting a claims adjustor's call, you know just in case. Worst part is my siding is 15yrs old...so no matching it at all.. :(
Ok, so while this was going on I decided to tackle this mess as I couldn't do much else with people coming in/out of the house. I have so much sewing to do and I was tired of struggling to find stuff or the cat finding it for me.
I just love these cubes! From AC Moore, called Simply Built.(can't see it on the website though, gotta love the coupons too!) They have a few more varieties and I'll be using a few more of them when I make the move this summer to the room that used to be her's. All full with my sewing and quilting supplies and easy to get to, well they will be when I put the labels on the front!
So much better, I can move and see everything so well now!
Oh, not out with the old, but geesh about darn time huh!!
A few more inches on the collar, massive steam blocking, and buttons, and maybe an FO shoot this week..you know before it goes in storage!!
Well, off to sew in my new space!

The new doors and windows look great! Hopefully the water damage won't turn out to be too extensive.
Great job on the organizaiton. thos enew little drawers look pretty spiffy!
Everything look great! Wanna come over and organize my stuff?
Ooooooohhhh, I couldn't wait to see all of that!!! The windows and doors look so awesome! And your storage is divine - so organized. :) :) And TD is almost done!!!! So very exciting over there (if only we didn't have to worry about your water damage - I'll send good wishes that what they find will be minor.)
So much productivity! I'm very impressed. When are you coming to my house? It's still not too hot in Phoenix.
Great job on the organizing your space looks great. I'm going to have to get to mine one of these days. Can't wait to see the finished TD!
All your housekeeping looks so good. The storage system is really nifty, I can't wait to get all my stuff out of boxes and neatly organized.
Yay for successful home improvement! BOO HISS for finding new things to repair in the process. :(
J "accidentally" melted 3 sections of siding on our place because he "accidentally" forgot to pull the grill a good distance from the house during one drink n' grill while I was still in Boston.
Our siding? Also about 15. And lovely fading by the sun.
I'm dreading it. Which is why it hasn't been replaced in the year since it happened.
Your sewing area makeover looks wonderful - can't wait to see your finished Duster!!
Nic edoors and windows. sucks about the water damage. those pesky estimates always seem to go up rather than down.
I lvoe the organizer thingies! They look great! Want some...
So how do you open a painted shut window without breaking it? Or is that still a mystery?
Love your clean new spiffy craft/sewing area! Doesn't it feel good to be organized?
It's like a fresh new house isn't it? New windows, more organization...awesome. Can't wait for TD's FO shoot!
Oof. I dread house damage even more than car damage. Fingers crossed that it's not that bad.
New windows are always worth it, though.
(Tries to figure out if she can make it to AC Moore on her lunch hour…)
The new doors and windows look fantastic!! Yay for making the house look new again :)
Awesome job on the sewing room! I'm hoping once our workers our finally done I can get my craft room organized too!! Yippee!!
The doors look great! I hope to get as organized as you some day.
Hurray for the new window, doors AND organizers for your sewing items!
Busy busy!
:o)
Oh yes, TD is looking sooooooo very nice. I really really like that color you chose even more now that it is so close to being finished.
Looking good! Windows and doors are so expensive, aren't they? We have to replace some skylights as part of replacing part of the roof (ugh) and they are pricey! We have other windows that don't really open smoothly either, that eventually also have to be replaced. I can see now that this is going to be Jim's "summer project", LOL.
Isn't organizing awesome (when it's done!)
My craft room was a disaster for a long time - I just recently organized it and now I love being in there. It's amazing how much room you have when the floor isn't covered with crap!
If I send you a plane ticket, will you do my craft room?
Yay for new doors and windows and for organizing your room!
New windows and a tidy workspace! What could be better? New windows such a difference too.
Oooo! Lookit how clean and organized your sewing space is! You really know how to turn a girl on!
Your sewing room looks awesome!
I think you need to come work your organizing skills here. I am beginning to think there is no hope for me. ha.
