Timing....

Is everthing sometimes!

Timing...hmmm
If this were a day earlier, well I would have had to reschedule! I mean, can't miss my son's graduation can I? A big sigh of relief for sure!

Prime knitting time I say! Some people complain about the sitting around, I won't, if they let me bring my knitting inside...They may not need me, it's happened before, sit, wait, go home. Whatever, gotta do it :)

We call the day before to see if we should even report. This is my 3rd time getting "summoned" The first time I served on an accident case, the 2nd time - excused due to moving to our new hospital and we had our first big case, and since this is the 3rd time..kinda nervous you know.

Well, off I go, much sewing and knitting to do before I sleep!

I've never been called for Jury duty, and there are 400 ways to get out of it in Canada. Our system is soooo different than yours!

A jury of one's peers is the foundation of our justice system so I hope you are able to go. I served once and it was a really good experience. But I recently got summoned for a potentially 4 week jury and that was something I just couldn't do. Fortunately I got a letter two days later canceling it. Good luck.

I don't think you can bring your knitting inside the courts in Calif but, the last time I was there, I wasn't a knitter!

Good luck!!

I've never been called for Jury duty and have always wanted to.

I hope they let you bring in your knitting!

And PAID prime knitting time at that! YAH!
Job and that little teeny stipend your local government gives you! LOL

Have fun! (Hope they call you in!)

Yeah no kidding I wouldn't complain either--I mean if you can get your needles in, you're getting PAID to knit! Sweet!

Cross our fingers you can knit! Last time I had to go, I got to bring knitting!

Last time I was called for jury duty I got it postponed -- it was supposed to be the week I got married. (Omen?)

I dunno what the NC courts say, but I gots my fingers crossed!

Ugh.

Well - at least it isn't the day before, I suppose. Maybe you won't have to go.

I've successfully avoided Jury Duty 3 times now - my summons all seemed to come as I was moving out of the state. Ha!

And now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll have a summons in the mail momentarily. Ack.

I was almost arrested when I took my knitting out in the jury waiting room. Seriously.

The woman in charge started yelling at me and had the policeman come over an took my knitting bag and held it until the end of the day. This was AFTER I went through security and had my bag X-rayed. AND it was also after I had knit all day long the year before while waiting to be called at another courthouse.

Turns out, in Illinois - you are allowed to knit while waiting to be called for Civil Court Jury duty, but not for Criminal Court.

I seem to get called every year....while I know people how have never been called. Somehow that just doesn't seem fair.

I hope you can take your knititng and I bet if they "need" you - the graduation will be good enough to get you sent home!

I've only been summonsed once since living in NC and I had to serve for two to three days.

I got called to jury duty once, but that was pre-knitting. I managed to get out of it with a great - and valid, I might add - excuse, which everyone else tried to use afterwards! You could see the attorneys getting more and more frustrated as people tried to disqualify themselves. I would've felt bad, but they were being a-holes, so it was really funny. ;)

I'm on call the ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE! Jury Duty for a month?! WTF?!

I've requested to be excluded because I am breastfeeding and the sole caregiver to my children - but they haven't responded yet.

If they don't - I plan to show up at the courthouse - colicy breastfeeder and teething toddler in tow...

About two years ago, I "got" to serve on a gun case in Compton, Calif. Even better? I was an alternate. Yeesh, talk about wasted time! All knitting stuff was strictly forbidden, although I was horribly sick at the time, so I don't know how much knitting I would have gotten done anyway.

I'd recommend checking their rules & regs ... and if you take your knitting with you, go early enough that you can take it back to your car if they say no.

Oh, and I just got called for jury duty in Torrance, Calif. Too bad I moved out of state almost a year ago!

I had jury duty a few years ago and forgot to go. Yup, forgot. I called the next day all in a panic and they said to not worry about it, and rescheduled me. Piece of cake.
Good luck!

I get picked for Jury Duty all the time but I've only gone once. It's interesting.

Make sure you have the right needles to bring. Last time I got called I had to take my Denise's. They didn't allow wood or metal.

I don't know about Cumberland County, but here in Forsyth County, knitting needles, knives, and guns are the only prohibited items, though big scissors may get taken away from you (saw a non-knitter with huge scissors get them taken - not sure why she had them!) as well. I called on the knitting needles (it was actually listed on the back of the summons as prohibited) and was told that I absolutely could not take them - they would be confiscated and NOT returned. It was a long, long day.
