Tasty Tuesday....

Something new to do on Tuesdays...well, mainly cause I got no knitting content as my FO is soaking..

What to do with leftovers from your whole baked chicken carcass....I didn't show the carcass, I mean..you all know what they look like.

So you take this carcass and place it in a pot of water. Boil it til the meat (or leftover meat falls off the bones) In this case, I also added some frozen chicken tenders to have more white meat.

I add some salt, pepper, and parsley flakes. Go wild, add the spices you like.

See it here...

After I take the bones out and get the chicken off, I let it start to boil again and add some stock or chicken bouillon...whatever you like to use.

I then add flat dumplings, or pastry (that's what I call it) a few at a time into the boiling water...
flat dumplings
I grew up with the dumpling batter you dropped into the boiling water, nice and gooey. Moved down here and found these. A bit of a time saver, but I do still prefer them gooey ones.

Here they are just waiting for their steam bath..
after breaking apart
Some people make them from scratch...not me though I just buy the box.

See them cooking away.
Pastry cooking
Once they are finished cooking, you cover the pot and let it sit for about 10mins...if you can wait that long.

Then put in a bowl, add your favorite cracked pepper and a biscuit..
Yum
and enjoy!

I usually use 1/2 box each batch. A pretty economical meal I think as my chicken makes at least 2 meals. Plus, it's in one pan too.

I love chicken and dumplings, although the flat ones are just weird to me - it's like they are noodles, but not. I like to make dough and just drop it by the spoonful. :)

Nom.

Although I read too fast and thought it said your carcass was soaking. Which, I guess, it technically was, but….

Oh my. I really should not have looked at this while I'm still stuck at work for an hour! Now I'm itching to go to the grocery and find some of these fabulous noodle/dumpling things!
