S is for...

Sewing, which has been happening a lot around here since last week.

A wee gift for a baby.
A wee gift
Cuddle wrap & little lap blanket. I have made probably 20 or more of these over the last 5 or 6 years. I used my serger for this, but if you can halfway sew on bias tape binding, you can make one too. All the moms that received them, say they are perfect for car seats. I just love the wee Meathead hat too!

My first denim needlecase request. Sorry for the blinding red bias binding though. This is going to be so sturdy as the denim is on the inside as well.
Custom needlecase order

Custom needlecase
I did sew another different one, but no pics. I seriously doubt I'll ever sew a lot to upload to my Etsy store. For me, custom orders are the way to go. I have way too much knitting and spinning to do, but it's nice to earn a bit of extra cash. (no I'm not begging asking for orders either...just blog fodder ;)

Oh..here's some recycled yarn prOn...
It used to be...
Remember my hat last week. Yeah...blocking over a plate killed it....bad! I should have left well enough alone. Whatever possessed me to do that! It covered my eyes, unfortunately I need them to walk and drive...yeah..stay tuned for the re-incarnation...it's already started...sigh...
Just say NO to blocking hats....good friends don't let good friends block their hats, if you block your hat, you'll have a frog attack...yeah, I'm here all week ;)

That cuddle wrap is adorable! How cute. That's too bad about your hat! I'm glad you are going to try again though.

Oh, that wrap is wonderful! What a great idea.

Ick to the hat. But I might have to disagree to the blocking hate - I blocked a beret and loved it! Knit it smaller this time ;0)

Poop! So what kind of hat are you going to make with it now? I still think the colours are lovely.

Oh that wrap is too cute!! Perfect for when you have to run out the door with a baby!

So no hat blocking. Is this kind of like drinking and sewing?

That cuddle wrap/lap blanket combo is SO cute! Looks very soft and snuggly, too!

I've actually started sewing a bit more lately and I'm not hating it as much. Discovering that the right tools definitely help! Got the box bag thing going now. I want to figure out how to make a case for my HiyaHiya Interchangeables soon, too!

Oh, no about the hat! You couldn't re-wash & block w/o the plate?

Love your sewing FO's. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of baby wrap. So efficient looking.

Yet another reason I am anti-beret! I'm sure your hat will be lovely second time around, and that baby stuff looks great!

I made a bunch of box bags for folks for Xmas gifts and could never imagine sewing those in bulk for sale. Well, I actually did do the sewing in bulk part, but doing all that sewing just hoping that someone might buy one? No thanks. You're right. Custom orders are totally the way to go!

What a clever wrap! That would be great for the swaddle-impaired like myself.

And man, you made me shudder to think of sewing through denim. Gah my machine sucks!
