Wip's....of the week, where to find, and a PSA

No time this morning to post and I just got home from work/skate nite. Plus, hubby is hogging this computer to do his Master's degree work..hmm..doesn't he have his own computer?....

So as you can see upsidedownly, my 2 fronts. (tried to fix, but it looks funky...so humor me!) They'll be blocking this weekend along with the back and soon to be seamed.
Both Fronts
Knit at the same time, not too bad tangling wise either, not like sock yarn anyways. Did fine until the decreases....the instructions have you knit the Right side first, ok, fine, but when you get to the Left side, just reverse instructions... Here's where they had to be separated.

The right sides went fine (decrease on knit side), just follow instructions..but the left!! geesh! If I reversed like they said to...I'd bind off the appropriate # of stitches, but be left with one stitch... So I finally looked a few other patterns and decreased on the purl side and it looks just the same...sigh...even the same length... Needless to say, I like patterns that explain every side/detail, etc. I'm not that experienced yet!

Bear with me, this is my first knitted adult object with long sleeves! ;)

Sleeve 1 started Sleeve 1, knit magic loop style. I'm pretty happy with this so far, fits well. Calls to cast on 36 sts..well you in the know, when you don't seam you are supposed to remove 2 sts..so I did..k2,p2..um..er..why is there 3 knit sts...duh, can't divide 34 by 4...so down to 32 and it's fine. I have to increase every 4th row until I get to a certain number of stitches. I am knitting in the front/back of the stitch for the increase. I like it, and it will be on the underside and not show too much. Would love to get sleeve 1 done this week...we'll see.

Garter rib sockSadly, due to above knitting, poor Garter Rib is being a little neglected. At the heel flap now!! Not a great picture..sigh..too dark for a by the mum picture this week.

Before I forget!! Julie from Noolie Knits is walking the Light the Night Walk for her friend Betty who has Multiple Myeloma. Most of you know how I feel about cancer and how it's affected my life and many others out there. So if you can, donate to the walk and get a chance to win some great Prizes, one of which is a custom made needle case from me!

Got a few cases done...slowly, and hope for more this weekend...soon..my friends...soon!!

You're getting so close to a finished sweater! Can't wait :-)

I prefer it when they actually tell you what to do, too, instead of the whole "reverse shaping" thing.

LOL on the sleeve count - if I had a nickel for every time I'd done that...

My garter rib sock is neglected as well. I haven't finished picking up the stitches yet.

The sweater is coming along just great. I'm with you on the "reverse directions" thing . . . I'm not quite there yet, I need them to spell it out!! :)

You're doing great! Glad to see that I'm not the only one who had to rip stuff out this week. Can't wait to see the finished sweater!

those sleeves... they are perfect! I am knitting my first adult sweater, and I am doing it top down, in the round... I am afraid of all the finishing if I knit the pieces... can't wait to see how it turns out!!

Your sweater is coming right along! I hate that reverse the shaping thing too. If I'm knitting from a pattern, they need to spell it all out, thank you very much. ;o)

Your sweater is looking great! I also hate it when the pattern just says reverse directions.

Pooh! I just went to get some watermelon yarn and it's all gone :-(

Thanks for the shout out about the walk!

Good job sorting out the sweater fronts. I decided to do the fronts of my cardigan at the same time on the same circular needle. It's fine for now, but I think I'll have to break them up for the decreases too. It's too hard to keep track of which one is which. Or at the very least I'll put them on straight needles so I know when I've finished a row.

Good for you! I got confused on the fronts too. I didn't even try doing the sleeves at the same time.

The sweater's looking good. I too like really detailed instructions. I don't like having to figure things out on my own but on the other hand it has taught me a lot about knitting.

Great job! I knit my sleeves two at a time too, and while it seemed to take forever, it was so nice that when they were done, they were DONE!
