Wild, Windy, Weather

So glad it's over and turned sunny again!  We had tornado's hit all over NC and other Southern areas today.

It was scary and loud and luckily our house was spared major damage as others nearby weren't as lucky...

A tree decided to crack up and land on the neighbors fence...
snap

A tee tree...

So glad there was nothing below in their yard to get hurt or their house...phew on that one!

Our slowly dying fence keeled over a section...
just couldn't take it and fell down..

And one post cracked under the pressure too :(
broke at the base

All of my local friends have checked in on Facebook, so happy so far no one is injured or homeless.  Quite a few areas have totaled houses.  In fact, one at the corner of my street no longer has a fence like this...it's all over everyone's yard and so much damage to their house...they are not home either...

A crew of young people went through the neighborhood with axes and chainsaws helping people out.  In fact, at this posting, they had cut up this tree and were fixing the fence as our neighbor has small dogs.  Just when you think no one helps anyone anymore...they come along.

Took pictures for the insurance guy as we need to get the stump out....cause we gotta get this house ready....ready for what you ask...

For mid June.....why you ask???

We are MOVING!!!  To the mountains  of Arizona!! (I repeat Mountains...mile up...high altitude, not flatlands and heat)  No it's not Maine, but close to it and it'll have to do for now!  More on that later...gotta go knit and spin while I still can ;)

It looks like you had a close call! Glad you are safe. Congrats on the move! You are going to be in a beautiful part of Arizona! Not much chance of tornados there, so that's good.

Moving! I hated only time I did it (mainly because it was forced by war)

But I can "smell" your happiness! Good for you!

Yikes, with that wind! It was pretty wild here as well, but nothing that caused any damage. Congrats on ARIZONA! They're lucky to be getting you.

Moving - happy times! Congratulations on that. And good luck. Our recent move has just about done me in! So. Much. Crap. Goodwill will become your friend. And watch a couple episodes of hoarders for inspiration to get rid.
As for the tornadoes. Yikes! Glad you came out relatively unscathed. I LOVE stories of young folk helping out. That makes me tear up with hope for humanity.
God Bless, on this beautiful Sunday :0)

Also, wouldn't it be fun to meet up at Stitches West next year?!

Oh yay!!! And boo!!! since I just left! I'm assuming you're going to Flag. I have some very crafty/knitterly friends there that I can hook you up with. So excited for you - you'll love it. It's the only place I like in AZ.

I'm so glad to hear your OK. That was a nasty storm system! My son is in Tuscaloosa for school and there were tornadoes on the south side of town. Fortunately the University and my son's apartment are on the north side and they were relatively unscathed, but lots of damage around town. We got dumped on last night in NH, about 3 inches of rain overnight!

Great news on AZ too! Woohoo!

Thank goodness all y'all are alright! Very lucky with that tree, I'm thinking, and with the fences.

AZ? Really? Oh my...

Glad no one was hurt. Those pine trees are a pain in the patooty. In Hurricane Charley THREE came down in our backyard. :-( What a mess!

Good luck on the move!!! Congrats.
